This is always worth a look IMO, particularly when you think that it was done 40 years ago, way before the vast range of ready-to run stuff that is available now.

Steve, looks a fantastic layout and a particularly convincing backscene. Congratulations. Do you exhibit it? Would be nice to see the layout for real.

There is also a VERY interesting article about photography inside a model roundhouse, the pics have to be seen to be believed.

For interesting dioramas, have a look at Cardiff Canton, and Ranelagh Bridge, being done by Steve Fay on both RMWeb and Western Thunder.
Yes this looks a great new magazine. From the same publisher as Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review which is a very high quality publication featuring very high quality models.

Nice to see there's a few others with a dual interest in fast cars and slow trains! I'm a fireman at the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway - so make sure you all pop by if taking the A458 through mid-Wales! Half the fun for me is the scooby journeys to get there and back with a couple of days out on a steam engine in between .

We called in one sunday in September, nothing happening and no-one around except the couple that ran the tea room. Very disappointing.

This was at the eastern end, Welshpool?

Oh, sorry to hear that.

Yes that is Welshpool. The main centre (larger tea room and shop, work shops, engine shed etc) is at the western end, Llanfair Caereinion.

We were running in September, but if the train was out on the line when you were there then Welshpool is quite quiet!

Let me know if you are ever heading back, take a trip on the train and if I'm there then I'd be pleased to show you around.

Yes Steve, although not so much these days. I do the odd tarmac event in Ireland/Mainland Europe and always enjoy a trip to the Welsh forests. Probably drive more now ( got RS1800 ) which is what I did when I started rallying many moons ago.

For the benefit of the thread I have an American outline S guage layout

Looks fantastic Steve, I especially like your Hoover, the weathering detail is superb

Inspiring me to section off a corner of the loft and start, sadly I just don't have the time, but when the kids have grown up and start doing their own thing it will either be FP or OC, I want it to be FP but with a turntable such as OC

The Hoover needs a bit more work. around the windows and the exhaust ports but almost there

I need to get a decent camera as you can really see the detail

I quite like this shot, where you can see it work stained in the background

I have always thought FP would be a real good project. Kind of half tempted myself at some point.

Perhaps just get the woodwork done up in the loft. An buy the odd bit of stock here and there. Donīt start but just lay the ground as it were

I did think that at the weekend as I'm boarding out the areas that hadn't already been done so I can store all my old hi fi, vinyl, cassettes in one place.

Once I've cleared the rest of the crap out I'll allocate a space, looking on rmweb a lot has changed since the 80's with regards to controls and electronics in the loco's.

I'm taking my 5 year old to the Diesel Day on the watercress next weekend we had a wander around the sheds the other week and he enjoyed it, I'd like it to be something we could ultimately build together.

Their Hoover is looking really tatty and rusting really badly
