Oh brilliant I might send them back then and do some research on it
Yea I wouldnt lower a car again, unless I could buy whole setup (shocks etc) and only then if I researched that it wouldn't scrub.but wouldn't be surprised if a kit that worked properly would cost ££££s
I am a painter so that part shall be cheap and have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge so repairing the engine shall be no trouble . It's done 95k which may seem a little high but it has full subaru service history every receipt and mot from new and it's a genuinely clean and well looked after car
If you want someone to do head gasket etc. I know a great subaru mechanic and probably the cheapest you'll find. Pm me if wanna know more
He does it all! He's a proper top bloke. The Only thing is he doesnt remove engines himself, just works on engines on a bench. He does use a garage near him if you cant get it removed yourself. Also he arranges courier if you dont want to (which helped me)
I used to work in Cotgrave many moons ago @ Northern lifts between the pub and the petrol station, think the name has changed now though. So are you a decent painter? as I need some work doing and would prefer someone local so I can give them some **** if it's a crap job.
Mate he was gonna do a total standard rebuild on my wrx for around a thousand pound. I ended up having uprated con rods, teflon coated pistons, acl race bearings, reseated new valves, drilled & ground crank, timing belt (tensioner, rollers etc. water pump, oil pump, oil modine/cooler,headgaskets,head bolts, had block converted to semi-closed (he found a company to weld lugs the same as scdb) he done the lot! Aswell as picked up and delivered for less than 2k. Think it was £1700+£150 for oil modine.
Tax is alot more on sti & probably insurance too. Also im sure I've read somewhere before that uk wrx 5speed gearbox ratios are more better suited to our roads (but dont quote me on that)
Sti insurance is slightly cheaper due to the WRX being quicker on UK roads.
