Did you know James Dean's Porsche 550 aka the "Little B*stard" (and parts of it) went on to kill and injured further people; Quite a spooky story. That car mysteriously vanished.

I think this GT's days are over.

Sad news.

I instantly thought of James Dean. Killed in Porsche crash in California (1955).

Seen a google map on another site , and you could see doughnut marks on the floor so perhaps it was a site for the locals to go and play , just this time it went so wrong.

I think looking at the pictures , it would be right to assume they died on impact and not by the fire , to have that amount of damage the speed would have been high , and so sad that he died through someone else's driving .

RIP .

Very sad, RIP Paul...

I can't believe there is already video footage posted on the net of the car in flames which must only be minutes after the accident..

One of those rare gems who didn't appear to have his head up his own ***. I'm shocked and saddened by the news. Proper dude. At least he's been able to leave some sort of legacy behind and won't just go down as a statistic. Davidoff Coolwater just lost its cool.

They say that the driver was in 16th gear, got confused over which gear he was actually in, was distracted from all the clunking coming from the gear stick and lost control.

He did other cool movies also aside from F&F..seen couple Porsche drivers lose the rear end,one on a roundabout near me.where it wasn't level ground, and had a hump then dipped into roundabout,Porsche driver lost it on the hump, back end flipped.luckily just spun out and nothing more..They seem to think these super cars are uncrashable. Still a shame what happened.

Awful news.

But there are a couple of things about this story that annoy me:

1. There was another guy dead who doesn't get a look in as he isn't "famous"
2. There's no way they crashed at the speed limit. If that was 2 random guys everyone would be saying "what dicks for driving so fast/badly" etc

Such a shame though

I agree.

1st point reminds me of Senna/Ratzenberger.

Fair points! Re: point two, I guess that's the difference when there is an association with the deceased.

That's not true. Nobody wants to see or hear of tragedies like these, even when it's likely someone was being irresponsible. It's made the news as it's someone famous.

He does have a point. You're probably right in that nobody (or most people) wants to see or hear of such tragedies, but it's the reaction to them that Hodgy is referring to. Of course this hit the news because someone famous was involved, but plenty stories hit the news involving 'normal' people, and the reaction is often as Hodgy says. (assuming this crash was to do with speeding/being reckless/running out of talent)

All that said, I still find it sad. Two people have lost their lives, regardless of apportioning blame, and their families and friends must be devastated.

RIP to both.

Supposedly they were drifting.

There was a figure 8 road layout and the area is very quiet and a lot of folk use the area for "fun", but something obviously went the way it shouldn't have.
