On a classic 360 probably feels like 400 in a new age I'd imagine. The difference in weight definitely helps!

Spool will be the same - on the 2.5 it's designed for...
Asked JGM about one for a mate's WRX.
Response? It'll be laggy...don't forget the earlier cars and WRX engines don't have AVCS either

Most people get accustomed to their car.
I've run a TD04 and a vf35 on my old WRX bug (made 281 and 325 respectively...next owner got 350 on removing TGV's but EcuTek kept reigning it in), and a vf35, TD05-20g and now SC42 on my blob STI.
Even with AVCS the vf35 is a dull dull turbo I'm afraid. 20g was fun but the SC42 is mental. Don't need a faster road car at all.
An 18G will have more lag than a VF43...

I suggested a billet 18g....and I also still disagree as its a 2.0. If the vf43 was truly as wonderful as you suggest I suspect far more people would be running them on 2.0 cars.
The fact that a trusted and well respected mapper also advised against it and said go 18g billet or vf34....well I suspect his experience well outranks you and I put together!

The VF43 runs the same bearing design and same exhaust housing as the VF30. Would you say that is too big for the 2.0? The VF34 just runs a different bearing design which allows slightly quicker spool 2-300rpm if that.

Don't be fooled thinking that just because the turbo was on the 2.5 that it is laggy, the old VF20/22 turbos were fitted with P20 exhaust housings and were much more laggy, but they're still on 2.0 cars..

The reason I'm recomending it is from a price view. A billet 18g is a lot more than both a VF43 and VF34. The VF43 and 34 would be surprisingly similar but I'd hope the billet 18g would flow a lot more based on it being an 18g and billet.

As with everyone, I'm just going on my own experience here - the guy asked for some options based on experience so that's my 2pence. My VF35 performed very well, but then my VF43 out did it in all areas and makes pretty good power too. I can't see a VF34 doing any better and I'd hope that a billet 18g would do much better than them both based on the price alone..
