It's funny that a lot of people moan about the number of immigrants in the SE/London yet it is the most profitable part of the UK..... hmmmmmm

I think this is the point. The Brits are actually usually pretty tolerant of most things, but this I think will be the moment when people say enough is enough!

I live and was brought up in Crawley. I think the majority who are pro-immigration are those who see very little or none of the downsides.

Immigration will turn the UK into a third world country, they will reduce the UK to the same region they originated from.

And when they have destroyed the country, like a plague of Locusts, they will move on.

I think the biggest problem this country suffers from is a lazy indigenous population for whom hard work are dirty words, it's been like it here since the 50's when the first influx of cheap labour came to the uk, they possessed a work ethic, something that has always been lacking in the uk.

For too many years the indigenous population has considered certain jobs beneath them, hence the mass importation of cheap labour and the governments willingness to allow it.

Until this issue is addressed properly there is no other option but to import people who will clean toilets, change bed pans, wipe ***** etc, etc.

Used to know someone from those parts

He'd attach that ending to every other sentence.

Simply couldn't help himself.

Bizzare

Added to which he didn't pay the rent.

Some of the least 'economically active' groups are immigrants.

IIRC - in general - immigration from outside Europe has been a real economic drain, with european immigrants 'performing better'.

Sure you mix with immigrants who are people like Doctors - like yourself - but don't pretend this gives you a good perspective.

Well said. 99% of working class people would vote for stricter immigration laws.

That would be an easy and convenient assumption on your part, however it could not be further from the truth.

Do I think all immigration is good? No I don't. I've posed the question many times about whether, purely on economic terms, further immigration is good for the country. I'm not sure at all.

However to read people referring to immigrants as 'locusts' or how they 'make them f@@king sick' is just abhorrent.

As I alluded in an earlier post- no matter what anybody does to try and accommodate the numbers both entering Britain and being born here we will reach a point where the fabric of society is broken.

Even if governments engaged in a massive spending spree and modernising roads, railways, health and social care infrastructure plus engaged in massive housing program we will only delay the inevitable – that being the disintegration of society.

As I write this I fear I sound like a complete doom monger but seriously what is the alternative?
Does anyone on here know? I would honestly appreciate you sharing your views.
You need more private schools, more private healthcare, toll roads and large gated communities - then it does not really matter

That's what happens in other countries

An estimated 180.000 per year coming into the country
And over the next couple of decades the uk population increasing by 10million

These do seem frightening statistics , even more so if they are conservative figures

Are these predictions to be believed ?

Immigrants from elsewhere form a tiny percentage, who are here to work
But then we've been all through this

Places like Romania have more in common with Africa than western Europe in some ways. Those stats were from 2000 IIRC and so don't include Romania, Bulgaria, etc.

What a pointless post

At that rate perhaps we should allow Africa to join the EU
