I bought a set of wheels off him too. 5 wheels & tyres for £500.

Bank transferred £450 and 4 wheels turned up. Over a month ago now. Numerous messages since then about getting the other £50 sent and other wheel delivered. Promise after promise about its being collected on xxx or he'll arrange collection for xxx. Nothing.

Excuses about being away with work etc, which is fine to a point, but not when you've got time to put up for sale threads of other items. Finally unpacked the 4 wheels 10 days ago for a sprint at Combe and none of the 4 wheels that did arrive had the center caps.

Working away is fair enough but taking the p**s, items not as deacribed, and false promises isn't.

The easy way to do it would be to get some of the lads that are not banned from the swap shop to post up for his details, There are plenty of them on there

Looks like there is no need now though

I'll get in first before R.A. ().

This is another example of simply poor communication, leading to misunderstandings and the inevitable 'have I been ripped off?' mutterings.

It's all too easy for a business/sideline to take off (especially if there's positive vibes on here) with the result that there isn't enough time in the world to carry out the basics.

It's nice that people can flourish but you have to take account of the drawbacks. There comes a time when assistance is required, otherwise positive feedback becomes negative.

I'd strongly suggest to sellers that they get an email address solely for their business and use the autoresponder facility to advise people of say, when they are away, or will respond to their enquiry.
Eg "I'm away at the moment and will be unavailable until Sat 14th Sept. Your email will then be dealt with within 2 working days." Or words to that effect.

It makes things much less fraught.

or just send things when they sell them.

if your not going to be around due to work commitments why put something up for sale and take the money and not tell the buyer your away?

Spot on, obviously !

What I was trying to get over is that there might be unforeseen circumstances causing unavailability or delay, and one of those is quite often an unexpected rush of business/enquires etc.

It's the handling of those instances that's the solution.
Mishandling them leads to this type of thread, and this one's now descended into a personal brawl by the look of it.

Regarding taking the money as you term it - and I'm not being pedantic here - the buyer actually gives the seller the money and it could be argued that buyers need to exercise a bit of caution and get a firm delivery date before thrusting their hard earned cash into someone else's account.

I'm not taking sides with buyers or sellers.

I'm just suggesting that if a buyer gets a firm date from a seller then everyone knows at what point questions will start to be asked.
Failure to deliver by due date starts the queries, rather than waiting a few days and getting more frustrated, and a prompt reply - even if automated - at least keeps the ball rolling.

Personally I've not ONCE accused you of, or trying, to rip me off.

The wheels are wheels and regardless of what car they are going on they should be complete, unless otherwise stated.

As there was no mention of the center caps missing it is assumed they are present along with the wheels. As for motorsport wheels never coming with center caps I think you may want to revise/research that.

I have 3 sets of the same wheels and all have come with the caps. 90% of the sprint guys run the center caps on their wheels.

I appreciate the offer of replacing them and yes I am happy for it to be sorted in that manner. As for the other wheel then obviously I'd like that delivered too.

I think you will agree that I have been more than patient and equally as reasonable in an effort to concluding our business. You work away which I have appreciated and taken into account but you have also made promises you haven't kept. Simple better communication would have been a better option IMHO.

As said, not once have I accused you of trying to rip me off and not once have I posted anything unreasonable or unfair on here, via FB, or text.

I accept full responsibility for my actions and my lack of communication on both matters,
But at the end of the day I've not been or have i been accused off ripping of anyone or not sending parts as requested,

matt got 4 wheels and is waiting on the 5th then he pays me, lad with the gold wheels damage was down to courier that has been resolved with a refund to cover the cost of the damage,

so once i get my **** in gear or change jobs the later being the better option , hopefully all will be good again and i don't get 50 members on my doorstep with baseball bats ;-).

My comment is based on what i used to read on there fud.....As for me being banned, mine was because I told some guy that the TK impreza he was selling wasn't only 1 of 3 in the country like he clamied, his bint jumped on board giving me ****, so I retaliated..

To be fair I'm not fussed, but did make good reading during my lunch break with topics like stock GB270's being 10second cars and 800bhp budget engine builds....

Well fwiw - and as an 'independent bystander' - imo this says a lot for you.
I read that you've a lot of positive feedback, probably too much.
Your sideline has grown to the extent that you can't keep up with it.

My advice?
DON'T change jobs - the day job brings the money in and if you're good at it then it brings more money in than you'll earn in another (trust me, I've been there).
Get some sort of assistance with the sideline. Even paying someone a few quid to ensure that 'you' keep on top of things is obviously worth it.

'Local lad dun good' is possible, even likely, given the people who've said you're A1. Get someone who can easily step in for you when you're bringing the main bread home.

I wanna tell you a story.............

China, many years ago.
A young lad goes up to a visiting priest and says "Father, I have been told about Heaven and Hell, but where is the proof?"

The priest says "Follow me my son, and I will show you" and they walk up a mountain and into a cave, and from there they descend deep into the Earth.

Eventually they come upon a vast cavern, and in it are many people, people who are fettered to the walls by ankle chains.

In the middle of the cavern is a banquet, every food you can imagine.
The people have chopsticks, but ones that are 6 feet long, so of course they cannot feed. They are emaciated, they cry in hunger.

"This is so cruel", says the boy.

"Yes, my son, it does appear that way" says the venerable old man "but these people lived their selfish lives and are now getting their comeuppance. They enhanced their mortal existence at the expense of their fellow man.

Come, follow me and now I will show you Heaven" and with that the priest set off farther into the system of caves.

Eventually they come upon a cavern exactly as the last one.

Lots of people, all fettered, all with long chopsticks and a glorious buffet out of reach without using the chopsticks.

But here they are all in good condition, they are happy. There is no wailing, no hunger.

The lad turns to the priest and says "Father, how can this be so. Do the angels provide for them?"

"Oh no, my son" says the old man "in here they all feed each other".
