XBox One or PS4?

FYI the new PlayStation Mag tells you how to change the drive in the PS4, its the same as the 3
Maybe a good idea to do this to a 2TB or smaller.
PS4 1 xbox 0, as you cannot change Xbox one at all

5400 not as much heat, nice and fat

For most PS+ is more about being able to play online and the free games each month.

So what's the overall consensus? Xbox One or PS4? I'm still undecided. Sure the PS4 has slightly more powerful hardware, would it really be that noticeable in game play whilst sitting 10 ft away from the screen? Am I also right in thinking that the online facilities cost the same and provide the same level of service for online gaming? I have Sky TV already so not too interested in the other online services like Netflix etc. I'm guessing both consoles will have near enough equal market share and variety of games in the future like the previous generations.

TBH i got both, the ps4 has arrived Xbox one still waiting for, i got the Xbox to sit in the front room for that HDMI passthru effect, of being able to say TV and it instantly switching to cable etc.
Ps4 will sit in my Man cave for when the boys come, and will prob be what i play on most
- Pure Gaming machine
- Playstation Plus is far better than Xbox Gold, the games from Xbox have been crap
- More Powerful, but not by much, Graphically more power at 1.8 terraflops vs 1.2
Xbox One
- True Rooms system, HDMI passthru helps with Input swapping very nice feature
- camera is better, if thats what you want
- Has Forza 5

i wouldn't do my Xbox one, but id do the PS4 as it looks as simple as last one. But i suppose i gotta wait for Santa t see how much room gets eaten by the games.
Anybody care to comment, how much each is eating up ?

You say that now but if you are a true gamer that buys all the latest games the hard drive will fill up before you know it.It's simple maths really the average space required for a normal next gen game is anywhere between 28G-38G with some of the new top games coming in at 48Gtake into account the start up firmware and software taken nearly 100G away from the start you are left with around 400G which isn't that much in the grand scale of things, and as they say it's a console with at least a life expectancy of 10 years 500G was never going to be enough, but as I said before that's why the PS4 is a well thought out piece of hardware as you have the option to upgrade the hard drive at a later date if or when it becomes full, the xbox one will still be ok as soon as there firmware upgrade comes to allow you to plug in a external hard drive into the xbox one USB port so you could easily have 10/20TB extra memory to play with.SJ.

I got ACIV and BF4 for PS4 yesterday. Very impressed with the former, not tried the latter. Killzone with the console is good too, I'm about half way through on easy but for a "non-gamer" it isn't that easy! The size of the worlds and variety of tasks is interesting. Never had a console before apart from the Wii and Unreal Tournament 2004 and GTAIII (and tried demos of Crysis 1 and Far Cry) was about as sophisticated as I had on a PC with a Core 2 Duo and Nvidia 8800GT card.
Not signed up to online yet, didn't want to get sworn at by 12 year old Americans I guess, or is it not that awful?

You need to put all of this in to context, with regards to the majority of players..... which will not be buying all the latest software. For average Joe (90% of the userbase) the ability for 8+ games to be installed will be ample for the time being (there is file management after all). HD specs will grow as time progresses, which is natural evolution.

There is a fantastic option called "delete".

This time round though I just get them as I've always got them, when there released.
Ps4 will be in my office, and I got the xbox one, for the hdmi pass thru and to replace the ageing noisy xbox.
So yeah I'm always sucked in by the hype, I love em
But in short I prefer ps3 over the xbox, but maybe that's because it's close to me daily.

Yeah I hear Shaun but who really wants to be deleting stuff all the time In the future as the HD gets full after working so hard to get to a certain level or parts in games as games get more better with more in game options the more GB will be used up and free game downloads on PSN+ All that GIG information has to be stored somewhere that's without adding music pictures etc.....,bye bye HD space.SJ.
I totally agree with that 1TB should have been the minimum...... but that would of bumped the price up, so there is the commercial aspect as well.
At least the PS4 gives the expandability now and hopefully the XBO will, in the future.
It doesn't really bother me personally (although I will upgrade the drive, just because I can, rather than need). I also have a fast internet connection, so if I need to re-download, I can we little issue.
TBH I manage my PC (and PC gaming) in the same way. I have a 1TB drive in that and could easily expand, but it forces me to perform housekeeping to keep the crap down.

Is it possible to uninstall the gigabytes of stuff with each game but keep your status/achievements/position/preferences in the game etc? If so, that would be OK as it doesn't take long from inserting a disc to being able to play.

I'm not connected to the PS network or whatever it is, although the console is connected to the internet and happily did the day 1 system update. So could I keep the position in the game as a small data use but get rid of the multigigabyte cache of stuff for running the game? It might offer an option but when the time comes I don't want to find out it just nukes it without asking? Not coming any time soon I guess as I only have 3 games.

If like me your PS+ trial is about to run out and you didn't get a £29.99 365 day pass from HMV, CEX etc then cheapest I found at short notice was £33.15 from cdkeys.com. Follow this link to get 5% discount code:
