Does anyone butter bread for bacon butties or just me?
Going to buck the trend now, I wont eat crispy bacon, might as well have frazzles, nice rare bacon and tomato sauce, 3 good sized rashers on soft bread (dont do crusty bread either) either or with eggs, but must be soft. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I never butter the bread...butter stops the egg yoke and fat juices soaking in.

(presuming its a bacon and egg sarnie)

I never butter bread. My mother in-law puts such thick layer of butter on her bread that it's even thicker than the filling. She says she likes to taste butter in her butty. She ain't weighty any more at 74 but certainly quite an ill lady.

Basically, butter is better than margarine or other plasticky shoite, but it's good to eat it in moderation. We all know that, I know.

I reckon egg and bacon sarnie on white is the tops.

3-4 rashers are too much, man. Makes it taste far too salty. I understand where you're coming from regarding sausage in egg and bacon butty confusing the matter, but I reckon HP brown sauce goes better in any bacon filled butty, not the ketchup. But we're all entitled to eat whichever sauce with our bacon. I prefer ketchup with just an egg butty. As soon as bacon is involved, it has to be the HP brown to go with it.

Isn't the "But" in Buttie" the butter part?

Essential for a proper bacon buttie
