I have to agree with Tiggs, people were saying the same when the MY02 was going to be launched.

What happened as slight change to the A/C and the ariel got moved to the rear windscreen (which must be said is a good idea), oh and the badge changed on the front.

To re-tool the mahines to change the metal would cost a fortune, as would the design and retesting of the cars. Significant changes that have been suggested would been the car needing to retested for crash tests, not a simple of cheap undertaking.

I can see the plastic changing, the headlights could go to STi style (remembering the wiring loom and bulbs are different (H4 instead H7)), prodrive or even the Morettes (now a part with a Subaru code). The bumpers may change along with the sills. All of which is cosmetic stuff, that again would have part numbers meaning if you were that desperate to keep up you could most likely buy it and swap the parts over.

Looking back over the previous model changes the metal didn't change at the front, significantly, for all the years preceeding the MY01. People that had the older plastic either changed to the newer items or went down the third party route.

I have a good relationship with my dealers and they haven't heard of any body changes, they certianly don't have any pictures. Unlike the new Forester which does look good.

On a slightly different note, I am a little upset I will be in my 80's when the anti-grav and lasers are being released!

When I asked the sales guy at the dealership I think you are referring to, he said the changes would be minimal and wouldn't come into effect until late 2003[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] But he would say that wouldn't he as he was selling me a MY02
Never mind, it wouldn't be the first time I bought a new car and they facelifted the model 6 months later. To be honest I don't think there are many cars that aren't altered in some way every 6 - 12 months. Toyota used to be the biggest culprits.

I was going to trade my Forester S Turbo in this summer for a new WRX 5 door. I might wait for the new Forester when its launched in November now. Trouble is, I don't like the rear end, it looks like an old Simca my mate Ted used to have.....Blutes
