Hawk 2.5 WRX vs Blob 2.0 STi (and Evo X FQ300)?
My point was you trying to put down the fella who posted a video of his lap with "I've lapped quicker in the wet"
.....and now to top that you tell a story how a Ferrari couldn't pass you in a 1.4 Rover...
As I said, you really are full of $hit......

Did you think that the Ferrari might not want to pass you, Not being funny, But unless you are driving really slow, I would not pass a £700 quid car driving all out on a single track road even on a long straight, Dual carrigeway or motorway and it would be a different story(plenty of room)!!!
Sorry but when your car does'nt cost much, you tend to take a lot more risks and as you say you blew the headgasket and not seem to be that bothered!! imagine how gutted you would be if you blow the headgasket in a Ferrari!!!

to whoever mentioned chatting to the two drivers after.. there was a cruise on so everyone was coming and going.
my take on the "360bhp" STi was that someone told the guy some porkies when selling him the car. think it did have some sort of map on it as it had antilag (unless one of those Bee*R limiters). had atmo BOV, exhaust, intake and FMIC. as for the amount of boost, i wasnt in the car so i didnt see it but there were 3 in the car including the driver mentioning pegging the gauge at 1.5 bar. anyway.. so i figured porkie pies on the claim of 360bhp.
because i thought the STi drivers claims were optimistic at best when i saw the FQ300 and saw/heard it and knew it had some mods i egged him on to see what id fare like thinking at minimum it should definately be atleast 300bhp or there abouts since its a new car.
or maybe both were at quoted BHP but neither one could drive properly? lol

On track is a totally different story if the conditions are good then the guy with 10bhp more and decent brakes and coilovers wins, but on the road you can have 300bhp advantage and not be able to make use of it.
Exactly and the rover is worth about £350 so I fully understand why he wouldn't want to go for it, but he is a local and my mates know him, the road is actually a two lane road but like I said there arn't many overtaking opportunities, but I think everyone is missing the point i'm trying to make, which is it doesn't matter what car or how much power you have if the opportunity to pass does not present itself you'll be behind, which is how it is on the road.

I have my prefered overtaking points on the route to my wife's workplace.
When the opportunities present themselves I take them.
When they don't I have to MAKE them.
And from what I've heard here, ditchy's opponent(s) did neither.
And now, back to THE thread (must be 500 by now.........)

This s the bit you won't believe
my little Rover 25 1.4 (well it's the mrs actually) does just shy of a ton in 3rd gear and revs quite well too all the way to the limiter at around 7000 and a bit rpm, at this point I was expecting to get hammered by the ferrari 460, so here's me and rover on the ragged edge at around 70mph round these few bends and a couple of pokey small straights, now with the speed I was carrying and the way the other traffic paned out we both overtook a couple of other cars but the ferrari could not pass me as well, and in fact had a bit of a job staying with me

Anyway I'm done with this thread now, I'm going sit back, hold tight and wait for the next episode of ditchmysters driving tall tales....
Apparently Amazon have snapped him up. He'll be alongside Jeremy, Richard and James for the new show. The first episode contains the Agera, P1, 918 and Rover 25 in a race across Europe. epic stuff.

:lol 1:

Proof of what I have been telling these STI fan boys for some time now mate.
Nothing wrong with any of the cars.

It's all about spool and longer gear ratios and weight
although i'm unsure what the Evo weighs, I presume you didn't go much more than about 100 / 120mph and it was already GAME OVER by then anyway. But to be fair by the sounds of it yours has had a cheeky remap and is probably running around 270 bhp and a few more torques, and is more than a match for these bigger turbo cars until the speeds get silly.
You really have made my day.
Stick around though because the STI fan boys will be along to try and discredit you without actually offering a plausible argument other than "it's an STI so it's got to be faster because its an STI, so its got to be faster because it's an STI"

I have managed to discover a couple of the reasons STI's must be faster and it seems to have something to do with the shift light, pink badges, blue seats and the ironing board on the back.
The 2.5L has it's weak points but it does make for a cracking road car when sorted.
this is the reason I sold my hawkeye sti running 480 bhp ! I got fed up of all wrx subarus and rover 25,s flying past me . I even did cadwell park and had old r53 minis waving at me as they went past
so brought a cooper s works r53 and it's twice as fast as my impreza
Maz
That looks nice, I bet it can take a few big scalps too, it's something that some fail to want to admit even though some of them have owned much less powerful cars that handle really well and carry speed better than a big powered Impreza, and that's my point, if you can carry speed by having a well set up car and actually being able to drive, not just rely on **** loads of power to try and muscle people on the straight bits
then that's when these small less powerful cars can be fun and worry much more powerful cars.
How do megan's with under 300bhp stay with 600+ bhp GTR's around the Ring, is it magic do the Megans really have 800bhp.
But suggest a WRX PPP can Stay with a standard STI or that a **** box Rover can stay in front of a Ferrari on a bit of a twisty road being peddled on the limit by an experienced enthusiast with over 30yrs experience of driving like a tw$t and reasonable skills and they get all bent out of shape, go figure.
P.S; how did you get on with the Momo tyres?

Momo's were spot on for the price ( thanks ) couldn't fault them . Actually had really good grip.
Straight line and launch then I see the argument regarding power but once moving and faced with lots of winding bends and fast corners then it's down to skills and confidence of the driver . I've stuck coilovers , rear bar, and r56 brakes on the mini and it handles like a dream.

So the momo's compared well to some of the sticky rubber you've had in the past?
I couldn't compare really to federal rsr as semi slick v unknown brand ( ha ) . I would buy them again at that price it was a bargain. £50 odd quid for a 235 tyres was a good price.

Now I think of you as one of the people that can actually post something relevant so don't join the crowd.
As for the bell end thing, maybe so, I just say what I see and with me what you see is what you get, straight from the hip and just the way it is or how it happened, choose to believe it or not, it's your choice, matters not to me, this is the internet afterall.
That's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but try and stay away from the name calling, it doesn't suit you, I think you're better than that, despite your lack of actually posting anything other than observations.

On a side, I didn't think I spent enough time on here these days for anyone to form much of an opinion on what I say.
You can't really play the straight shooter card and then complain about name calling. All I've done is return the courtesy and state what I saw without bothering to sugarcoat it.

I never start it and I don't do name calling until others do it, then I generally give better than I get.
This comes from a lifetime of being started on and being called names.
P.S; just checked your posts per day, you're only 1.5 behind me so you must be on here a fair bit, especially considering this past week is the most I have posted in the last 3 months.
