You said "until we have an as close to perfect as possible system to eradicate as many criminals as possible then we should stop just letting anyone in." My point is we will never have such a system. Should other countries we travel to stop us from entering their country until they have "as close to perfect as possible system to eradicate as many criminals"? Going by your logic, we should ban UK citizens from traveling to countries in case we commit a crime. When is the system "as closed to perfect"?

Traveling to other countries or migrating?. I'd expect anywhere in the world that I wanted to migrate to to take the application seriously and for my government to give any relevant information on my criminal record when required. I'd expect to be told if I was arrested within say, the first year of being there, then I'd be immediately deported.

So just to get things straight, with 28% of the met's arrests being non British last year, you think that we don't need to change anything regarding applications to migrate to the UK?.

Just so we're clear to the proportion of the figures of arrests; London has a population of 8.2million, 55% of that are immigrants. The Met reported 70000 arrests were "foreign nationals" and not specifically immigrants, but just for arguments sake lets say they were immigrants, that's just 1.5% of the total number of immigrants in London. This figure does not go further to say whether charges and convictions were made following the arrest, so potentially the proportion is even smaller. And because of this tiny minority, we should shut our boarders to immigrants and now foreign nationals too? Talk about a Daily Fail knee jerk reacton!!

I have no issue with deporting criminals back their country and is the next logical step after they've served their custodial sentence. To say deporting foreign criminals makes you racist is just plain stupid!! But this is far cry from closing our borders to immigrants when 99% of them are law abiding.

There is a difference between wanting to deport foreign criminals and shutting our borders because some of the immigrants coming here might commit a crime.

1% of them have been caught, not necessarily law abiding. That's 1.5% in the area covered by the Met, let alone anywhere else in th UK.

Are you suggesting that the proportion of criminality is greater for the rest of the UK? If so show me figures of arrest rates amongst immigrants for the rest of the UK to support your argument. I would guess it's still a tiny minority. At the end of the day what you're advocating is the use of a huge sledgehammer to crack a tiny nut.

Sure, I agree, but not every migrant is a criminal. UK Border Agency do run checks before letting migrants in. However whilst I acknowledge they have done a crap job so far, simply just closing our border is not the answer nor a viable option.

I'd say common sense would say some area's would have more, others would have less. Why not provide sources (credible of course) to prove otherwise.

Indeed, I was going to point this simple fact out about 85 pages ago, but often simply can't be bothered

An arrest is not the same (thank god) as a conviction

And as you say, it would be very interesting to see ratio of convictions to these arrests and how that compares to the rest of the UK

Got to agree with you, NSR is a f**king sad place again right now. SN seems to attract these types, if I was Combat 18 or the likes I would use this place as a recruiting ground.

I guess I am just lucky enough to be blessed with enough intelligence to think for myself and not be sucked in by the press and their crusade to blame all the country's ills on immigration. That or I can just watch 10 minutes of Skint on Channel 4 to remind myself how disgusting our white homegrown scum really is! It's a pity we can't deport the likes of them and move in some more immgrants, it would be much better for the country

If I was an immigrant I'd love F1_Fan. I could attack any of his kids, clone his credit card, take his job and send any earnings home. As long as a small percentage of white people did similar I'd be fine. I've never known someone racist against their own kind .
The only thing I couldn't do though is drive the AMG rust heap, even immigrants know an immigrant in an AMG is an embarrassing cliche.
