Post a pic of the switch and the wiring on the back. If I can see it, I might be able to advise.

Does it click and stay in or push and release? (mechanical or momentary).

i.e. does it look like this -_ when the mirrors fold in and -- when they're out or does it push and release so that the button is always flush with it's neighbour regardless of where the mirrors are?

i think its the latter, mirrors fold in or out and its flush with the other buttons. Click it one way and it will fold in and likewise another click and they fold back out, etc.

I think we're probably SOL then

If you can get a multimeter on the back of the switch and figure out whether there is a constant live being fed to the mirrors when the ign is on, regardless of position of mirrors, then there might be a chance that we can get my module to work. I think this unlikely though unless someone else who's got experience of this type of switch can chime in.

There should be another way to wire it in as you don't really need to use the switch. So long as you can find the 2x output wires that get driven with +12V to fold the mirrors in and out then it should be simple.

Put a multimeter on the back of the switch contacts. One side down to a permanent earth and the other use to hold on the mirror switch contacts. Push the fold button and find out which wire only goes live 12V when folding out and 0V when folding in and which operates the other way. There will only be 2 wires that go live and then to earth when folding and un-folding. These are the 2 wires that need to be cut and joined to the output of the switch.

When you've found this you can take the permanent earth, permanent live and ignition live from anywhere else in the drivers door or car. Doesn't have to be the same wires as the diagram. It will work just fine!

I did this to get the unit working on my FSTI and it works great. I took my ignition live (signal), perm live and earth from the electric window panel in the end. Shouldn't take long to find the 2x all important wires and figure this out.

Good luck.

Thanks for taking the time to write all that. This unit was always designed with the original switch in mind but the more Scoobs the better

As per the very good instructions provided by Major-Sarcasm, in your case I would ignore the wiring drawings as they will only confuse you. You need to find which 2 wires on the back of your switch you have to cut into to operate the mirrors in and out. These wires are currently being operated by the switch, but they will be cut in this process and connected to the mirror matic unit instead.

So, use your multimeter to find which 2 wires are switched to +12V from 0v when the mirror is folding in and out. Cut these wires and connect the output wires going into the car loom to the mirror matic module. Insulate the wires coming from the switch that you have just cut as you will not need these again.

Connect the 2 free cut loom wires to the module:

Blue = Open wire to car loom
Yellow = Close wire to car loom

The other wires are:

Red = connect to a permanent 12V supply. With keys out of the ignition this should always be live.

Black = connect to permanent earth point.

Orange = This is the switching wire that makes the mirror module work. When you apply 12v it will fold the mirrors and when you remove the 12V it will fold them the other way. Connect this to any point that you can find that is live only when the ignition is switched on.

Simples!

If the mirrors fold the wrong way, i.e. they fold in when ignition on and out when ignition off then simply swap the blue and yellow connections into the loom.

Done!

It can work with the alarm, depending on the alarm itself. You can use another interposing relay and use one of the alarm outputs to trigger the mirror circuit. You can use the relay to switch a 12V signal on and off to the mirror-matic module via the alarm. Providing there is a spare alarm output relay contact that is switched with the doors.

Mate, I tried to help before and gave up,
TP needs to find a mate with a little tech knowledge as the mod is so simple if you have a few basic skills(which TP doesnt)

your help was useless and you never read my posts correctly, the saloon has different signals on the Sigma alarm than the estates, getting a 12v signal that switches upon opening and closing is not possible as i have looked.

unless your vast knowledge knows better.

That's not a very friendly post seeing as he was trying to help you. I suggest if you're unable to do these things yourself and you want assistance that you are friendlier to the people who are trying to help you.

Don't burn your bridges.

insulting me and not replying to an earlier query i had is all i could see from the poster.

My original query here was regarding the Sigma Alarm, I am quite sure at this stage no one has a solution to this and you cannot get a folding mirror mod working on the saloon using the 12V trigger signal from the Sigma Box.

If this works on a 1999 Forester S-Turbo then I am in!

Car has JDM Forester folding mirrors, I think the rocker switch is the same as equivalent year Impreza.

EDIT*

Heres a picture of the switch.

Sorry Henrik, you're right, I didn't see it. £5 GPB on top would cover postage to Denmark, so £27.50 GBP total. If this is ok, send me a PM and we'll sort it out.

Just a quick query on the wiring, I've been running mine as per the instructions for a while now and would like to run them from my alarm output instead.

Can I just check that the dark green wire / orange to module is the signal wire? And it has 12v when ignition on/open, and 0v when closed?

So if I am using my alarm output and a relay to control, that is where to connect?

Thanks.

Correct. Your alarm will need to provide a constant 12v feed on disarm for this to work to simulate having the ign on.
