That whole area isn't great from Charlton to Plumstead and Thamesmead. I was studying at a Uni campus there nearly 20 years ago and living in Charlton and it was certainly a place you watched your back and stuck to the Uni bar of a night. Local pubs were not a place to go.

The BNP headquarters are (or were) just up the road and it seems to be a place where nutters from all corners of extremism reside in numbers.

The night bus home could be quite an experience at times.

Can't imagine what the poor guys family are going through.

It's hard to know how to punish them, death penalty is too quick, prison sentence costs the tax payer.

My thoughts to the family of the soldier.

I as well can`t understand why nowadays no one at least try´s to help the person in need of help.

Why did it take that long for the police to get to scene.

Sadly someone died for nothing

By the way it`s not just in UK it`s all over the world

Why do innocent people have to die????????

I personally think it`s getting worse nowadays, aggression, aggression ......

And the people in the film could have been the 2nd/3rd/4th tragic death of the night if they had tried anything. I know where you're coming from but it's fortunate that there weren't any other casualties IMO.

R.I.P to the young solider.

What a horrible thing.

I find some of the reactions in the video quite strange. It's as if some of them are looking on without a care in the world. Maybe just shock?

Well being honest it would take a pretty brave (or daft) person to get involved after watching two people hack someone up with knives.

Exactly, some people can say they'd do X, Y or Z, but unless you're in that situation, you'd never know!

The brain is a strange thing and seeing something like this may make people act in a way which is incomprehensible.

Unarmed Cops were there quite soon I understand , the AFO's took a while to get there as the Gov dont think that British cops need to be armed so there aren't that many of them and when you call for them you have to wait

It's not just Muslims, it's every other form of religion as well.

The charge of treason no longer exists - you can thank a certain Mr T Bliar for that.

Yet another thing to add to his catalogue of errors then. The man is a buffoon (and I don't like the current incumbent much either).

I am from south London & his accent sounds like he is British born or has certainly lived a long time in this country from an early age.
So, he is spouting the usual mis-guided rubbish about 'people witness this everyday in OUR country & YOUR government'.

Probably never been abroad.

A very sad day for the UK. Awful scenes and as others have said what is important here is that someone who did not deserve it has lost their life for no good reason whatsoever. Not sure realistically what can be done to stop this sort of thing happening again though

As for those who see this thread as a good place to have a dig at other posters, try and be funny and try and wind people up this is not the place..... grow up and show some respect FFS!

My thought go out to the poor man who died and his family.

I thank the officers of the MPS for the professionalism and dedication they showed in the face of great danger.

Absolutely shocking!!!

Uk born guys that have obviously been brain washed by some typical idiots, one of my mate who is black is turned into a Muslim and was getting brainwashed by some wierd characters and me and my mate noticed this and firmly told him to leave them as it wasn't right to what/how/where they were telling him to go and treated differently, now thank god he is with proper Muslims.
Just an example that the uk people turning into Muslims seem a easy target and get sucked in.

This is by far the worst gruesome attack I've seen on this type of matter in uk.

Rip inneceont victim, and prayers for the families.

Don't understand how these folk can be so stupid and selfish to do such a crime!

The charge of treason does still exist, all the 1998 act did was reduce the maximum sentence to life imprisonment!

On skynews one person has said that he had been kidnapped and then let go. Then run down and stabbed up.

This country is really going down hill. What I don't get is that these terrorists kill innocent people because we are killing their people. Thus is true but... Their people are killing their own people and forcing them to live not freely.

It's all messed up.

Wonder if the killers will still get their benefits.?

Yeh I think they are taking huge influx of donations etc at the minute. Nice to see some unity, regardless of how moronic some of the people are who are jibbering on with no clue.

Appears one of the guys involved was originally born in Nigeria.

If you hold a British passport you should support our country. You may not agree with policy/government/law but you are allowed to not agree but your British FFS and abide by the constitution.

Just because some people have opinions which may not seem tolerant, I think you'll find we're much more accommodating than many other nations.
That's not necessarily a good thing though. We are too tolerant in my opinion (which I am fully entitled to before the forum police arrive).

It's because we're so accommodating that things like this happen (not the sole reason obviously). If the floodgates to immigration hadn't have been pretty much wide open for the last x amount of years letting in all sorts of disgusting scum, there would be less of these sorts of incidents, along with lots of other crime (its well documented that the statistics of certain types of crime have shot through the roof due to the arrival of so many immigrants from places such as Poland and Romania in particular).

Who says he holds a British Passport? You don't need to preach to me, they've only given the origin of one man, there were 2 attackers and we only heard one voice. It could have been the other chap who was Nigerian and one was British.
