4 Pot Caliper refurbing
Heres a two pot rear caliper that I've refurbed for a friend, along with his four pots, it has been half soaked in brick acid for two days and literally rinsed off (to show before and after). Note the dirty part is still covered in road muck, brake fluid etc

They now look like this

and the fronts (I don't have a before pic
)
now look like this

Less chance of blowing the house up with brick acid, not that expensive either! Make sure you use goggles and gloves if using this method!

You lot are bloody mental, do you not possess a battery drill and a wire brush attachment.
Bit of nitromorse to get the paint off and then spent an hour or so with the drill, jobs a good un, and before anyone says it, mine looked just like your lots after 15yrs on the car and came up a treat, then I repainted them with hammerite enamel and a brush, but you do have to keep them level to stop runs and put plenty on.

Can anyone give me some good prices and places to buy 8 x 4pot pistons? Not fussed if stainless or mild steel as I won't have the car more than a couple of year at most, I just want my brakes fitted now.
I have the seal kit, just need the pistons.

Godspeed are excellent, I think it was £50 for mild steel one's and around £90 for S/S inc del iirc.
It's Halfords VHT metallic black!!
I wanted a kind of metallic grey and read the reviews which said the black actually comes out grey, which it did:-). I then lacquered them.
Job done.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the past am looking to refurb my 4pots again. Last time I didn't do the pistons but will definitely buy a seal and piston kit from Ian
Question..... Is there real need to split them in half as last time I tried I couldn't budge the bolts. If no real need then will sand blast them in my home made cabinet (old commercial glass fronted fridge) but that oxcilic acid looks fantastic.

I can't see any reason to split them. But to be honest i wouldn't bother refurbing them either, you can buy a new set for £150. Sell your old ones for £50, then respray new ones job done.
