Yeah but if you had to stick a tenner in to get you to the shell station would you put a tenner of 95 or a tenner of 97. IMO sticking the 95 in when the 97 was available shows a total disregard for the engine. But as i said, what do i care. Its not my car.
Putting octane boosters in is ok now and again but it will damage the cat.
Its ok the op telling me to wind my neck in. What did he expect with such an epic thread fail. Look everyone i have a full tank of the wrong grade fuel Anyway i would have thought he was big enough to take some stick. After all he is not opposed to dishing it out.

I agree BUT as this site does get out of hang maybe it could of been a better approch to say - pal do you know our cars don't like 95 Ron fuel ! If he'd of said yes but it was 10p cheaper then fair game ! If as in this case he really had no idea then it's a little harsh !

Ok fair comment. But it has to be said how many times did he have a crap before he realised its better to pull his trousers and pants down first? come on its not rocket science is it. Anyone who drives a performance car is no driving novice. You know its a high powered engine yet still choose the worst fuel available at the pump. There are 2 green pumps and one black. We all know which pump delivers what type of fuel. I'm sorry but i just don't buy the "i didn't" realise" line. If a person made the choice to pick up the 95 pump over the 97 pump just to save a few pence, i shudder to think their attitude when it comes to engine oil choice.
Maybe i'm being harsh on the bloke. but maybe my harshness will teach him a lesson that will save him a lot of money and grief in the future.
