Thanks to everyone today for witnessing that absolute idiot in the Grey Wagon go round and round the run and then cook his motor.................. oh yes that idiot was indeed me!! ha ha! serves me right.

Anyways I think its a thermostat NOT a headgasket as I came all the way home with no probs, no loss of coolant, no loss of oil, no mix of oil or water.

So £70 lighter on ebay and a Zerosports "COOL" thermostat on its way which must be £1 for every degree of temperature it opens at !!! Jeez robbery!! obv it must also be for cool people which is why I chose it. So we may live again to tell the tale........

Budgie- we will be doing Combe even if I have to bring Rachaels Abarth 500!!

14mm ARP headstuds are not just for xmas they are for life- I just wish my motor had some!!

peace, coolant, thermostats and out people!!

Me and the boy dropped by the clubhouse around 4pm, as it was raining everyone was inside- we did a flyby, looked at the cars then headed off! Maybe next time...

Hope everyone had a good afternoon- hope its just a thermostat too!!!

Hope all is good mate, track day looming
Thats the reason we keep mine at the level it is, shows most things a clean pair of heels but still drives you home after a trackday
Maybe at your level of power you should think about taking a trailer.
Will speak to you nearer CC to sort out meeting up

True enough but we'll see if its Thermostat or if its gone thermonuclear- to be honest its the weak point in the motor- 11mm headbolts why it was spec'd this way is anyones guess but I bought it from shaky knowing this.

I have had thermostats go dicky before and make them puke their water out through the little expansion. Luckily it didn't overheat while we were driving only whilst we pulled up and it got all the way back no bother/

I'll change the stat and pressure cap then cane it and see if it cooks

That motor isn't for the long term I need something a bit more robust which is why there is a secret project brewing coming to a wagon near you ............

Have you got an oil cooler? If yes then i would be careful as the thermostat messes up the working temperatures... Have a dig buddy theres some good threads about this issue on 22B
