So it seems my 53 plate Scooby had a decent engine but the new ones are not so? Thing is its ok saying by a import this or that but i dont want a Blobeye. Its a 10 year old car thats been thrashed for 10 years. Im not saying Evos are without problems, but do i really want to spend 13K on a hatch or mint hawkeye and then have to think about getting it forged

 

Will I definitely need to forge it within 3 years?

If so, this is money I didn't want to spend.

 

I really wanted the scooby burble, you don't get that with the JDM's.

Can the twin scrolls work as good with unequal manifolds?

 

I know mate, you are right. It has me a bit worried now, should I stick with the last of the solid 2.0 litres engines then?

 

The JDMs have the burble but it builds to a scream on full chat. They are stronger and ask yourself why they never hang around when they go up for sale.

 

True mate, not many JDM's on the market at the moment. I'm really unsure now.

Take your time! No rush. There are plenty out there, and I would suggest you test drive a few, with a view to buy of course not just kick others tyres. You might decide a hawk is not for you, and a blob takes your fancy more. Or... you may not want a scooby at all (This I doubt however, because they are just awesome :-D:-D:-D) But seriously take some time and choose, took me 6 months to find mine.

 

Thanks man, I really appreciate that solid advice. You are totally right. I have been saving 2 years for one, I'm a sucker for buying a new motorbike every year that's my problem. This year i'm saying no to a bike a hello to scooby. O.k maybe a bike next year then lol

Been building up info for a while (mostly from here and people I meet with scoobs)

Basically I love the blobs and hawks, like the look of the hawks better (just my preference) but the 2 litre engines sound far better from what I have been reading.

I have driven:

2005 blob wrx (really like the 5 speed gearbox round town)
2008 hawk gb270 (great to drive but the one I drove had a front splitter and lowered suspension and was not made for britains roads)
2007 hawk sti ppp (Wow, **** me this was quick for a biker, really liked it overall)

I need to drive the 2 litre blob to feel the difference, they say it has more high end grunt.

As soon as some one asks any opinion on the hawk they all say don't buy, get the 2.0 but the great thing about the 2.5 is the way it drives.

Yes they do have issues. But no more a risk than you'd get with any other car. The 2.0 can fail too.

 

ignoring the reliability issue for a sec the 2.5 is a much nicer car to drive day to day. 2.0 you have to prod a bit to get fired up, the 2.5 low down torque just pulls.

But its hard to get away from reliability problems they suffer, if you can find a specialist rebuilt hawk that would be my choice.

O and as far as why jdm's always sell fast, cos there's no where near as many of them and some folks just buy them cos there jdm, bit like all the crap about 'you want a widetrack' yada yada yada, 99.9% of people don't notice the difference, they just get it to have it cos its the latest scoobynet buzz word.

& you originally stated a budget of 10-13k
... My point is
& I don't know the seller
But the forged Hawk on marketplace has everything done that will give you confidence.
Trust me , if you buy a oem car , sooner or later you will be looking for upgrades into performance & that spend money alone will shock you .
I'm just passing judgment on what I think would be a good car for you , without the worry or woes .
