And the next few bits now in paint just waiting a bit of finishing and then on their way back to me for fitting
Bonnet vent...

Alternator...

Taking a couple of weeks off over Christmas to do some bits so progress should increase soon, although I am seriously considering an M5 with a couple of tweeks and I'm not sure I can convince the wife to let me have 2 cars sat on the drive

Time to get cracking, started by unbolting to old front suspension ready for fitting of the coilovers. In the process I've noticed how badly the whiteline roll centre kit has resisted the weather - I've just about had it with whiteline stuff as it does not seem to last despite the cost

Anyway, I'm going to paint the hubs, and as I'll need a full geo I'll probably rip off the track rod ends and give them a coat of paint too

Front struts are off, but the track rod ends are seized solid so I'll be off to B&Q in the sales for a new gas powered heat gun

... oh and maybe some nice and shiny steering arms
And the old front struts off ready to be cleaned up and sold, Whiteline flatout springs, AGX shock and whiteline adjustable top mounts

Another productive day before the crap weather returns...
The painted hubs went back on a treat although I've not done anything with the steering arms as they were solid

Struts then fitted...

Nice new top mounts poking through the inner wings

And then dropped onto the floor, just about high enough to get the trolley jack out, but once it's had time to settle I'll get the goe done and may raise it a touch

I should start the rears tomorrow but that'll take a bit longer. I've got some nice repainted trailing arms to fit, some poly bushes to do at the same time and I need to get my adjustable lateral arms powder coated so the car will be on jacks for a while

Not much done today, new handbrake cable fitted which has made an instant difference to the handbrake feel - not been able to adjust it up properly previously and it is now on 4 clicks rather than off the top of the ratchet and that's before I even stop playing with the rear shoes
Rear seats are out and the threads cleaned out as they were a bit rough taking the bolts out. Car is now also on jacks ready for me to rip out the rear suspension and start the clean-up

Painted mate, they've been quite hard wearing except when I drop driveshafts onto them
Rear trailing arm are painted to but I'm getting the lateral arms powder coated as they're adjustable and have spanner flats on them - a coat of paint may be too thick

Another busy and productive day although not all good news.
Knowing it would be a while before it goes back together I thought I'd need to remind myself how the rear shoes went back together

Then I stripped the rear suspension out completely...

The old trailing arms and the hubs...

The nuts and bolts on the hubs are well and truly seized so I suspect I'll end up with an angle grinder to cut them off so I can them clean up the hubs and fit the new

They've been sat around in the garage for a while so have a couple of chips but still a lot better than the old ones. Just need to press out the old bushes and fit the new ones.

The not so good news is that I've lost one of the small retaining clips from the handbrake cable
And the lateral arms are in worse condition than I had expected

Some of the rose joints were seized solid but some GT85 and brute force has solved that for now. In addition, the corrision on the arms was worse than I had expected so I need to see if the powder coater can clean them up in his acid dip and put good coat on to prevent it happening again. I'll then need to look at some new rose joints to replace the siezed ones as I guess they'll only seize again if I don't replace them.

Today has involved angle grinding the old nuts and bolts from the old trailing arms so I could remove them from the hub. I also relieved the hub of the old rubber bushes and cleaned them up...

I then gave them their first coat of hammerite

I did notice that one of the wheel bearings seems a little rough so I'll give that a good greasing up before I reassemble it but I suspect I may be fitting a new wheel bearing next year
