Let's see what postage will be, I'm assuming Iwon't be able to convince HTA to build a PU one and I could use a GRP one for shows

Decided to finish off the manifold with a painted TB. All cleaned up and ready to paint

I'll be getting the nuts, bolts and springs refreshed with some new zinc plating too...

And then painted

Also got my prodrive bumper back from the paintshop but it's going back for rework thanks to the morons in TNT

I doubt it will be on the car this years as I'm off on holiday and when I get back I'm off working overseas for a few months

Tell me about it, I was hoping to fit it before I went on holiday so it would be on for Rally Day

After the disappointment of the bumper I've decided to do some red-wrinkle for the cam belt covers. Only cleaned and primered so far...

Just seen 'em bud, looking tidy. I did a coat of etch today and should put the VHT red on tomorrow to match the cam covers

Bummer about the bumper Looking forward to seeing it fitted!

TB looks good as I'm sure the cam belt covers will too

I'm not too impressed by the VHT red so far - instructions said three heavy coats 5-mins apart which has created runs - I'll see how obvious it is once the wrinkles start to create. The halfords stuff I used for the black was much better

Well the VHT wrinkle red looks like an extra from Benidorm - not happy at all with the finish so I'll strip it off and apply using the method that worked with the halfords stuff. Three 'heavy coats' simply looked like a bad job that dried out. Luckily I have plenty of paint and etch

I find the wrinkle finishes work best with the lightest of the light dust coats.

Agree mate, that's how I did the TB but I thought I'd check out the instructions on te can - wish I hadn't now as it's still not set enough for me to be able to strip it back

It's been a while but work has gotten in the way of me doing anything other than ordering a load of stuff and hoarding it in the garage - so whilst I was had a few days leave I thought I'd sort the garege out ready for getting stuff in but I got sidetracked - I need to say a big thanks to Advanced Automitoves in Bristol for sorting me some stuff includng a Sterab oil cooler kit. I also got hold of a Revotec oil cooler duct but it was desgined for AP and MOcal coolers so didn't quite fit

So a little fettling later and the duct is sorted, but the bracket holes still don't quite line up...

And after opening up the holes

More to follow

Having been away for the last 8-months with work not a great deal has happened except online shopping. The pics of the shelves will prove that...

With that amount to fit plus more I reckon it'll be done spring 2016. Plans include:
  • removing the engine and welding/smoothing the engine bay as well as making new front cross-members to replace the rotten ones
  • remove the spare wheel well
  • paint the bonnet, boot and underside gloss white
  • flip the intercooler
  • make a CAIK
  • podwercoat the subframes
  • fit all of the stuuf which includes a VF34, baffle platres, oil coller, beatrush engine and gearbox mounts, SGS air-oiul seperator (no catch can), parallel fuel rails etc, etc

At the same time it will get a full service and new fluids; it is MOT'd until July so it needs to be done before that expires so I can road map it.

In the meantime I visited Maggy at RTS today and shod my new Comp MOs...

...witb a set of NS2-Rs

I will be clearing out soon and myold Rotas will go along with some oil catch cans, aerolocks etc - watch this space

Also, I need to find a reliable zinc plater - the guy who did all my nuts and bolts has gone off the radar, and the replacement never returned all of the parts from my TB - the picture of them looked mint but I've had to obtain another spare TB to strip for the metal-work

Time away from a car project is dangerous, I did 6mo in the US last year and couldn't believe the stack of parts I'd collected when I got home

Plans sound good

The wife knows I amassed some stuff, but she hasn't been in the garage yet and seen just how much

So I gave the car a quick clean today and stuck the new MOs on...

The Rotas are off and will soon be up for sale once I sort my membership out. The car is now ready for the engine to come out once I find time and get the crane

Looks good Jon The back looks like it might need to be raised slightly, those nankangs are seriously chunky and you might rub under 'spirited cornering'

There's plenty of clearance Iain - the arches have been rolled and pulled and even with 12mm spaces on the old Rota's only caught on the most extreme corners. I will probably raise it a little though as the drive shafts are currently slightly inverted and I'd rather they were parallel (or at least closer to parallel) but I'll see how it sits after I weld the boot floor flat and finish playing under there

Cool, looked a bit close when I was looking at the pictures on my phone, but I can see the gap now I'm on a laptop

Finally got around to repainting my cambelt covers...

After I'd finished I popped the bonnet to change the bolts on my bonnet catches and noticed that the rocker covers are different so I hope they fit - they were sold as bug WRX ones. I've also noticed that the spare filler neck I have doesn't fit my rocker cover so I hope they fit too, otherwise I'll be selling a load of red-wrinkle painted stuff and doing a load more painting.

A bit more successful was my new number plate

Yeah it was all sorted mate, just haven't fitted it yet with work commitments and going away for 8-months - it'll get done over the winter....
