Back to work so progress is slowing down but still getting stuff done...
This lot is off to Protech to be zinc plated and breath a new lease of life into it

And this lot has come back from RTS (Maggy) having had some powdering

Expecting a box or two of goodies from Ryan (Prodriverules) tomorrow too as well as my new wheel bearing - more to follow

So the postman arrived today and managed to launch some boxes over the back gate but thankfully when I unpacked everything it seems okay...

This will exercise the rotary cutter and my mrs patience but it needs to be done
Also some underbonnet goodies...

And then combine the Prodriverules paint-job with some Rallytech nuts and bolts and a fuel rail

Also had my new wheel bearing arrive from Import Car Parts so this lot should keep me busy for a while

Once again jonmc is streets ahead with this ultimate object
What Jon is doing is the future of modifications small atention to detail things like brackets ,bolts ,engine components and bitts and pieces that you probably can't see but are going in for the Mac treatment
Great stuff
Got to be a serious condender for one of the most tastefully modified scooby in the uk
Inspirational
Can't wait to see these bits fitted
Ps what's those red square brackets for with the manifold

It'll never be finished. Cars of this age always need some TLC. I need to some welding and tidying under then bonnet next which will need the engine out and it would be a shame not to take the opporotunity to refresh that - 2.1 forged stroker anyone
For today's installment, before...

After...

Where they all go is another question but these have been refreshed by Protech in Nottingham. Some of it was quite bad and pitted and although it's still pitted, which TBH I expected, it is now corrosion free and the nuts spin on a lot easier
There is a guy on here who works forProtech but as he's not a trader on here and he's already mentioned to me that he has quite a lot on I won't share his details unless he comes on this thread and wants to himself.

Not much done yet this weekend, my mentor keeps hassling me to start my dissertation so I should do some of that too, but anyway I popped up to the garage and got the wheel bearing swapped over - that'll be the advisory from last years MOT sorted which we thought was the rose joints on the lateral arm but by time I took the hub up it had completely seized.
Also warmed my vice up, pressed the poly bushes into my trailing arms and started to reassemble them with my nice zinc plated nuts and bolts and some rallytech stainless bolts and anodized washers...

I bought a bag of stainless locking nuts for my lateral arms, but forgot that half of the nuts I need are left hand thread so back on to ebay for some more
Also need to find some new rubber/poly sleeves for some of the rose joint spacers

Nice work there Jon, I like the silver coating you have had done it's bright and clean.... you know there's history in them nuts
that's what I like to see, they are not all new they are refreshed.
Did you break the alternator apart to refresh it ?

I didn't do it mate, Ryan aka Prodriverules does all my painting but yes he did split it. It is going back to have the cover redone after UPS dropped it
Reminds me - must pack it up and send it off

Another flurry of activity today getting some of the bits and pieces bolted back on, first my new ARB bushes in their nice zinc plated brackets...

Having tried to remove the ARB bracket mounts only to find one bolt un-movable and the bolts for the fuel pipe cover all sheared I drilled and rethreaded the sheared bolts and replaced them with some stainless RallyTech specials with their red washers

Then bolted up the rear struts having forgotten which side was which

So far so good

Next up was to bolt in the freshly powder coated strut brace, tighten up the suspension top mounts and fit the extenders...

Final on the car job for today was to refit the trailing arms with some more shiny zinc plates nuts and bolts

And the last job of the day was to reassemble the lateral arms in prep for the hubs going back on hopefully tomorrow...

Once the hubs are on I'll refit the rear brakes after I've cleaned up all of the brackets and fixings that I haven't replaced but then I'm stuck waiting for the new mudflaps that I am running for RallyTech and my new CDF droplinks if they ever turn up

As it is absolutely pissing down I thought I would just go into the garage and reassemble the rear hubs...

But then either madness or dedication kicked in and I got carried away - my clothes are that wet the quickest way to dry them is to wash them

That's everything bolted up finger tight - some bits needing a little more encouragement than others to go in. Next will be to clean up the bits of the handbrake assembly that aren't being replaced before tightening everything back up and re-fitting the brakes.

Cheers mate, just about defrosted now and been off to buy the 27mm spanner needed for the l/h locking nuts n the lateral arms - just need to source a couple of these now...

These are the locking clips for the handbrake cable - one snapped when I removed them although the cables are tight fit into the hub. I'm guessing they may only come with new cables

Got a small package from Thailand today

These are the RallyTech 4mm PU mudflaps and are much better than my old Performance Creation ones. Simple things such as the powder coated brackets and stainless nuts and bolts make a huge difference...
I also added some of the RallyTech Anodised red washers to finish mine off a touch
