I wouldn't be surprised if "some" garages (disclaimer, I'm not accusing any garage in particular) are actually fronts for organised crime, for example drug dealing, and don't care about selling cars as long as there's a way of hiding their ill gotten gains through money laundering.

Who is it decides that Yorkshire is the Garden of England? This garden just seems full of rotten apples.

...saying that if you are in the market for a second hand car look no further than Yorkshire exclusive cars, assuming they have something you're interested in. The most honest and genuine dealer I have had the pleasure of dealing with.

Crash damaged cars that are imported into the UK so are not recorded and then are fixed to varying degrees of quality.

Basically if you know your cars and you know what you are buying is economical to put right then fine (As long as you can beat down the price) otherwise you would do well to stay clear of them.

SVA Imports are a good bunch, Hurst Cars also have a great rep, there are few decent people out there if you look hard enough (read the rep on forums).

Don't STIs have a clear brake light in the spoiler?

I think I will avoid the long journey down, I was looking at the black Mondeo ST they have, I thought it seemed cheap.

I only asked because all the reviews I read where from 2009-2010 and a lot of them came from this site.

Thanks for the answers

Default Stay well away!!!!!

I've just got back home after purchasing a car from KTC. Before driving over 140 miles I contacted KTC I be told that my chosen car had a mileage of 110,000 miles and a full service history. I explained as I could only dart my journey after the school run, I would need it to be taxed (before post offices closed at 5pm) as I would be getting there at close to 7pm. They asked for a deposit of £100 which I paid immediately. After arriving I was told to hurry up as the owner wanted to go home and consequently refused a test drive and ushered into the office to make payment. Stupidly I allowed myself to be pressurised (as I was in desperate need of a car an had travelled quite a considerable disance). I checked the service history to find it wasn't Infact a full hisory but only had 3 stamps with last @ 98k but still I thought it was only 12k miles ago so not that bad. I made payment of £10,000 after which I was told one of the workers had take. The tax disc home but I was promised it would be posted out the following day. When asked, the owner advised the tax was £86. So what's the problem you may ask........!

Well after being ushered out, I went to the petrol station to
Fill up. I played about with the digital dash display only to find that the mileage was Infact 133,000 not 110,000 as promised. Ok, so that was probably my mistake you may say. But the salesman had set the dash up in such a way to hide the mileage screen! So that means the car hasn't been serviced in
Over 35k... So not a full service history then as promised!!!!
I went back immediately to find they had closed up. I decided that as tere was nothing that could be done to continue home. 20 miles out of keighley I was stopped by police and asked why I was driving without road tax. I explained the car had been taxed earlier that day and the disc would be posted out. The officer (thinking that I was talking sh*t) explained that the car hadn't Infact been taxed since 09/2012. After a thorough check and talking Into he let me on my way. i have since checked online and confirmed that they hadnt taxed the car as promised! The price of the road tax would have been £116 an not £86 like the owner had said but then he wasn't to know as he hasn't taxed it! He promised me a set of original car mats which I have now found out are not in the car boot as he had said!

I'm in a state of shock and this whole experience has really opened my eyes as to how dodgey these guys are. I just wished I'd read the reviews online before
I'd bought this car

Was this the first car you have ever bought?

I have on several occasions had a look around a garage on behalf of a forum member, taken photos of the service history and any faults I find with the car. I talk to the dealer to gauge their levels of service and have ended up saving people a lot of time.

If anyone wants to take advantage of my location let me know. (I drive past all 3 KTCs everyday)

Ktc love scoobynet!
I think you have been a little naive with your purchase and maybe ktc have taken advantage of you, take it back and ring trading standards and get your money back ASAP incase your car becomes a money pit.

^^ Agree. This is what keeps bandits like this in business. It makes me extremely angry.

Going to look at a car when you have basically no option but to buy it is like doing your food shopping when you're hungry. Things go wrong. Life lesson learned for you. I'd also like to know what 133,000 mile car was worth over £10k.

Un1988 take the car back for a full refund as its only a couple of days old and contact trading standards, they will try and brush you off but kick off call the police etc etc.

If I'm buying a car which I have done and it's far away, and have not much time with work etc, then I will go first and have a good look around take a test drive if needed etc and if I like it then I'll place a deposit there and then and arrange collection another day, gives me time to arrange best insurance etc, then go and collect simple.
I know it's a wasted couple of journeys but I feel more confident if I do it this way and know what I'm getting.
But you have done this so desperately and haven't thought twice and bought a car in a rush in the middle of the night (ktc would be loving this way of sale) and incidentally you have stumbled across the worst garage in the country.
So good luck to you in recovering your monies, take this as a lesson in life with buying cars, especially at a £10k price, if it was a £1k car then I could live with that and learned my lesson but £10k! Wouldnt even do that with the best garage in uk.

Nothing looks like it fits right. It doesn't look straight. The paint looks a mess. Awful state of a car!
