A nice start to the project. I do like those Rotas, very classy choice.

I too would rather have an Sti Bug scoop over the blob one. Its too angular in shape to suit the bugs curves.

But hey each to their own.

Keep up the good work.

hey looking good so far
if it was my car, then i'll paint splitter black,
standard grill, STi scoop (instead of the blob style one), and remove the rear tint on the back lights.

Thanks for all of the comments guys I'll give thought to swapping the scoop, I want a larger one than the standard wrx one, but like you, my wife doesnt like this one, so could be a compromise. Painting the splitter black or swapping for a different one is on the 'to do' list.
Just starting to get bits organised for the next 'phase', will be a little while before anything gets fitted

Thanks Craig, thinking that the bug sti scoop is the way forward, my wife didnt like the new one straight away, or she's had a different idea which I have to wait and see what happens there. Looking forward to the next stage, engine mods for which we've just started getting the parts needed

Been FAR too long since I posted on here, so have a bit to catch up on.
I'd taken onboard the comments about the scoop and had to agree. I then got the idea to go for a carbon bonnet. My daughter got taken seriously ill last July, so we spent the whole summer in Bristol hospital. My local Scooby garage collected my bugeye to look after for us as we had no idea how long this was going to take etc. after a couple of weeks I received a photo from them. They had a bugeye in breaking and had popped its bonnet onto mine. (From here, I know tastes and opinions will be vastly devided!!) so he had a Seibon Carbon bonnet now.
While away, I found a Do-luck carbon boot lid for sale, which was waiting for me when I got back.

That was it until Christmas, when my long suffering wife bought me these
All of the time I've had a plan, which I wasn't sure would ever come through. But I have been picking up parts hear and there hoping.
A few weeks ago while parked at college, this happened

So, dealing with insurance etc. After some consideration, it was decided that we should make the best of things and go for the project we had planned for a while. Please be aware that if anyone has been offended by my choices so far, I apologise, but its going to get worse!!!!
A LONG list written up and within a week my car looked like this ready to go to the body shop

While away for paint, which is a ltd edition Subaru colour, the name and code of which I don't know yet. The engine has been cleaned up, the block painted and some parts (Cam covers, rocker cover, manifold and header tank top) colour coded to the car. And the first 'extra' engine bits added, we've added a set of serviced and flow checked STi pinks, and RCM headers and up pipe. Personally I'm really happy with it so far.

The shell came back from the sprayer yesterday. Full re-spray, wheels re painted, trim painted and the carbon re-lacquered.

It was all going great and Martyn was only just starting to add some power when the death rattle was heard, big end had gone. Lucking we had trailered the car there, so we loaded up again and went home to lick my wounds and to come up with a plan.
After a lot of thought and convincing the wife, we contacted Allan Jeffery to plan a rebuild. The spec we decided on was:
Forged Engine Tuner 2.1 Stroker – consisting of:-

Heat treated 79mm crank
K1 H beam rods
Wossner forged pistons with coated skirts
ACL Race bearings
Roger Clark up rated oil pump
Roger Clark head gaskets
Roger Clark sump baffle
ARP head studs
Fully balanced assembly
Genuine Subaru gaskets and seals
Overhauled cylinder heads including guides
New water pump
New cam belt

When it came back a few weeks later, its was looking like this
