After all that....lambda sensor seems to have cured it according to my old man, first time he has driven an impreza and is now wanting one of his own. Cheers all for the helpful advice, as per usual you have never failed! Car is to be mapped on the 16th, time to have some fun for a change! Happy new year to you all

Yes kept all of the sensors. Unfortunately it's not fixed the issue. Absolutely gutted but could be worse i spose. It's a hell of a lot better, still a slight fluctuation in idle and the odd dip right down but no longer cuts out. It does however feel flat on boost and occasionally spits/misfires, and generally still feels lethargic. Close but no cigar so to speak.

Have you tried changing the ecu? Had a power fc on mine that went wrong would run but really rough took a while to figure out changed it for a different ecu and the car ran fine

no0one mentioned maf sensor ,just a thought mate ???? could be lambda and a duff maf too , and ive also seen somewere that fault lights dont always come on when maf is fubarr?????????
