That's good to know as I have never looked that close, I do know they have the bulb type marked on them so it proves they are designed for hid bulb and ballast. I can honestly say though after owning a uk car with an after market hid kit then going to a jdm with proper hid lights there is no comparison the jdm lights give a much cleaner cut off and I have had no one flash me at all in almost 3 years of ownership. If worst comes to worst I will fit some washers as not hard to do, but the auto levelling is far to much hassle to fit, I only think they test levelling by looking for a light on the dash so probably not an issue, I just keep 4300k bulbs in so they look white and hope they don't notice.

Levelling is a doddle, You would need a 6 pin switch as your 4 pin one work with the JDM lights, From memory it's a live & earth plus 4 wires from the switch to the headlight and then from that headlight to the other, I did it a few years back now, You can run the wires along the top of the bumper

Sorry I am thinking of my jdm blob sti, has manual levelling but new mot regs calls for auto levelling on hid lights which needs sensors, ecu and a load of hassle in wiring.

I used to have Morettes in mine. I've seen Morettes with an aftermarket kit, bought from a trader on here, and they suffered with all the bad points I've always warned about: scatter, poor beam control on main beam, (it was worse than mine with a 60W halogen bulb in), and not brilliant dips: they only JUST passed the MoT, the tester said he would allow them but that the pattern was only just acceptable.

Meanwhile, mine have been changed to fit HID projectors behind the clear glass lens.
As above, the beam pattern is spot on, with really sharp cutoff, and no wasted light.

I'm not sure what the law says about mine...probably not allowed....
But they easily pass the MoT beam pattern test.
