Well....if its an official Subaru dealer, I guess its probably only Li**ers that would be able to get away with that....

Sorry Dave - i meant that anyone saying that mike has told them anything "official" before the press release is talking sh1te..... Indeed you never said anything like that...

So all those "a source said 300000bhp and a free TV" are merely talking the sh1te...

Nice bloke Mike is - by the way - shame he wont let anything slip!!

Any news???

Do you think they are going to release a UK300 style STI to coincide with the announcement like they did last year??

johnfelstead,
the reason I didn't name the dealer is that they told me they could only get one and when I mentioned that nobody on Scoobynet that I spoke to knew anything about one. They requested that I didn't tell everyone where I got it so that they didn't get people ringing them all the time about it. They realise us Scooby people can be a bit passionate at times. However it is here and I am seeing it tomorrow. If you'd like a spec when I finally see it plse let me know.

Li**ers do have a 300 bhp STi7. And to my knowledge it has been nowhere near Banbury. If what I have been advised is correct, you probably would not want it any near IM in the event of a warranty claim either.

But it's not a PPP and you wont have any waranty so i am not sure what it has to do with this thread. It's not dificult to get 300BHP from an Sti7, it is dificult to get an IM backed 300BHP, hence this thread.

Post up what you buy in a seperate thread, all you have done to date is put up speculation on what you might have bought, which i find a bit strange. I normally like to know what i am buying.

Stevie,
Not Pooing you but A UKSTi7 claimed to be 300 ish by a certain dealer with down pipe/exhaust, dumpvalve, Optimax and Octane booster. Got 261 Bhp on the a R/road which was the same as an unmodded one would say the car did get and a little more torque earlier
Ps, not very Techy minded but would seem that Bhp is run buy ECU not by added Extra's your ECU don't know they are there or not
I got 247 bhp lost 14bhp by trying to Mod myB/Box choker

Have'nt Listers already had a STi7 engine go bye byes?
Tony, suprised that car only produced circa 265 BHP after those mods.I can only imply that it has something to do with the ECU that c'ant really cope.My JDM similar mods to the car you describe has gained about 15% power/torque.I have'nt had it rolling roaded but 5 years of driving/modifying these cars I know its not just placebo effect.

Deep,
Yes they have but a Test Pilot, when Engine had only 230 miles on it, at high speed changed down from 6th to 5th to give it some gun HIT 3rd instead didn't like 18,000 rpm
I agree in my MY99 I got/felt +15% but the 2 UK STi7 got EXACTLY the same 261BHP I'll see if they post their specs and Torque (which were different) readings. bearing in mind the WRC STI I think has only 300BHP but 450Lbs of torque. If I could only have 261 BHp at 2000rpm

You sure thats what happened Tony? The test drive car i drove there had 1100 miles on the clock and was detting badly, i expected that to go Caboom and i told them too. The sales guy didnt have a clue what det was so didnt listen to me.

I heard one of their cars went bang shortly after and asumed it was that one, it certainly was shouting to anyone who would listen to stop driving me and sort me out!

It still went like stink though, i was very impressed by the STi type UK.

If i could afford to spend £27K on a car i would have one tomorrow.
Mind you, my £6.5K sport can keep up with one in the wet.

You could tell he was Police trained by the way he used the middle of the road to see further round the corners, good to watch that technique used well. That was good fun following two STi Type UK's accross some cracking twisty roads. Quite a few, dont lift off or your in the bushes, type corners too.

Just sold my sport, so i'll be on a par power wise very soon.

Well guys, went on a tour round Prodrive last night which was superb BTW Actually got to have a poke around Tommi's car they were just finishing prepping for Greece

The chappie taking us round said the PPP was signed off, first few would be done at Prodrive to monitor them and then a few trusted dealers would be picked too.

He said figs were 315bhp and 25% increase in torque.

John,
Not certain of mileage, but it didn't seem long( 2 weeks) after we drove it( at 100 miles) that it went bang I could have been told 1230 and but only heard the 230. They only run all their Demos's on 95 octane no wonder detting.
I might have been told the "excuse for the blow up" as I can relate to that nearly done the same myself and yes I thrashed the living daylights out of it

Tony

Also going to A Prodrive walk about probably so Mike Wood can give me a beating LOL

That interesting as i waited for ages so i could ask the guy who fuelled it up what he put in it and the sales guy said they used 97Ron. I didnt believe them at the time as the det was horendous.

The weekend i tested it they had a major test drive programme running so it would have easily got to 1200 miles very quickly. It hadnt had its 1000 miles service either. I never have understood using pre first service cars for test drives as they are going to be nailed.

The car i drove had the big pink STi logos up the sides, is this the car you drove and went bang?

If the STi PPP is a genuine 315BHP it's going to be a fantastic drivers car, pretty impresive for a 3 year warantied production car. Lets hope thats genuine.

315 BHP? That special edition jobbie(?s202) is quoted at 320 BHP.This is on 100 RON fuel, different cam profiles,ECU,titanium lightweight exhaust and it has an extra oil cooler fitted for safety.Do you really think 315 BHP on 95 octane fuel(which it must be mapped for) is realistic?

sure, 315BHP is nothing for a turbocharged 2 litre. You can get 380BHP from a cossie 2 litre with no internal mods at all so to get 315BHP is hardly pushing it, dont forget the cossie was only 220BHP standard too.

John Felstead, just read your comments, nice road isn'it. it was quite refreshing to be watching two people drive properly, making progress as the situation allowed. That last bit is as i said just like the Circuit of Ireland, lumpy tarmac, tight corners and no vision, makes me smile every time!!!

John,if 315BHP is'nt pushing it for a Subaru production 2 litre engine(with £2000 package) why has'nt one been made to date? I know there is an agreement about 280 BHP being the max but why no ppp etc for the P1? Why has'nt Mitsubishi made a 315 BHP EVO?Because it would cost thousands of pounds to do it safely. Are you saying that you can get a safe and warrantable 380 BHP from a Cossie for less than £2000? I d'ont think so.

Yep, enjoyed that bit - just being careful not hooning it as a) on a road I was unfamiliar with and b) behind a police officer LOL

John,
I was told that after a mere 50ish miles the Oil/filter were changed and it's Subaru's policy with Demo's to change them at this stage .
Lemmy,
To get to a Prodrive visit is a bit like winning the Lottery

cheers tony, i was told they hadnt serviced it at all, what you say makes more sense but isnt ideal as regards running the engine in properly.

Sorry i couldnt remember your name John, i am terrible at that. Cracking road indeed, it was very nice to be able to see the cars used properly on a challenging road, I think that showed really well you dont need power to be quick, handling is where it is at. Very interesting STi Type UK too. The wheels suit it really well.

What i said was 315BHP is nothing special for a 2 litre turbo engine, and it isnt. I didnt say anything about having a warantied 380BHP engine for less than £2000. It would have been VERY easy for ford to produce a warantied 330BHP engine for the cosworth as they were bullit proof. I ran my own all the way to 99,000 miles at 350BHP. The only internal mod was a £90 GroupA head gasket which could have been used from day one on the special build engines. Like i say, 315BHP is nothing, the bits used on the S202 are not that special and a lot could be done without, you have to make it sound extra special though dont you. I love marketing.

Deep, the latest EVO VII (FQ300) reportedly produces near enough 310bhp with 3 yr warranty. You can also buy the Xtrememe RSII, from what was RalliArt, which from memory produces somewhere near 340bhp. So not that unusual. Price wise about 32'ish.

After several engines had reportedly let go, IM issued a bulletin to dealers regarding their demonstrators to change the oil from the running in oil to proper stuff if they were going to be used "enthusiastically " (my word )
