Gearbox is going in next week which should spur me on a bit, I want to be able to actually use the car this year, but that seems to be slipping away gradually.

Do I wait for the nice new upgraded turbo or just go with the billet version and get some use out of it?

My motto has always been go hard or go home but is there a limit to how long that should take ? Lol....

Go soft and get some road miles in I say.
Under normal circumstances J I would say get it completely finished etc, but being in a similar situation as yourself, personally I wanna drive my car and make the most of the small summer window.

Plus it will give you something to do over the winter.

This is true, but it will cost twice as much If I go for the upgrade in the winter as the turbo is in bits now ready to be done, and I always like doing things a little differently.

The real problem is the timescale as I'm not sure if I don't get to use it for another year if it is worth keeping?!

You have answered your own question really if I was to do it again I would be doing it bit by bit and not adding to an already long list of things I want to get done

I think I've got that sunk in my head now and will be sorting what I have off the car first and then worrying about paint and all the rest of the bits later on, I just want my car back tbh I really do miss it, I've got lots of nice bits but no car to use whilst I ploughed on.

How long are you looking at for the turbo upgrade? As I would be inclined to do that I think

It is an unknown quantity at the moment Craig, it could be next week or longer, it all depends on when it gets signed off etc. ET are chasing it etc, but no news as of yet.

I might wait until end of next week, and see what the state of play is, if i get it started end of next week with either upgrade then I should still be able to race in august. But I know if i dont get the big upgrade I want I wont be happy with the car, but it does mean I get some use out of the car this year and I dont have to wait another year to use it.

Its a tough choice and I think Joe might be right and do it with the smaller upgrade now and upgrade again in the winter.

Sit it out until you really can't wait any longer then and go with what your head tells you dude, I for sure would love to be back in mine about now, not looking likely as her indoors is about to pop any day soon

My plan of attack is to the handling side first this time and do the power later in the year, personally when you are waiting for a 3rd company its a case of how long is a piece of string.

Get it back together enjoy the bit of sun we have at the moment and worry about more power later, as a 500+ bhp scoob is plenty quick enough

See i would possibly be reducing my power with this upgrade, but I would be dropping the spool up massively...

I will make another call on monday i think and see what is happening

Well a small update, no pictures just yet though!

I have ordered my new wheels they are 17" x9j et+10, the only issue is they are 5x114.3 and obviously won't fit!!!

So a member on here has sorted me out with some 5x100 - 5x114.3 adapters/spacers meaning the wheels will be -10 offset, I think it is going to look pretty mental!

I am looking for somewhere to paint my abw arches, I am also ordering new plates for my twin plate exedy clutch so I can refit the gear box!

Thanks Lee.

So realised I hadnt updated this!

The wheels are Cosmis Racing MRII's very kindly supplied by Chris@TarmacSportz. He offers a top quality service and I have to say I was very impressed, he will be starting to work more closely with me on this project with some more trick parts soon

Highly recommended, he went way above the clal of duty to answer my questions and get measurements and what not off the wheels for me and got delivery arranged very quickly too, no hassles and no dramas, just how it should be done!

Waiting on my mate to offer them up on his classic to see what tyre size we are going to go for but as per usual we are stacked at work and struggling to find the time to get it all done.

Ordered some clutch plates from Aztec performance that the courier has lost so awaiting a new delivery from exedy so we can get those fitted up to the car, can also highly recommend Aztec, very helpful guys and top prices!

Thorpe Park, getting 182 ready to drop the box for a refurb and refresh the ball joints\inner and outer track rod ends, finished the full replaster\redecorate\build new staircase of the open plan down-stairs\stair aperture and playing in the woods on my bike

Oh, I may have mocked up a bracket for the push to pull conversion clutch so I can mount the clutch actuator properly on the wagon too

So then, my project is doing more than yours because I actually did something on the car

Sound as busy with other stuff at the moment as me, I am just been made up to QS and have taken on all the 5 yearly fixed wire inspection and testing for the south of the country, running around like a lunatic at the moment, wish I had more free time for the car!
