My worst had to be a brand new Fiat Punto (MK II) HGT Abarth I purchased in 2003. I owned the car for 13 months and it spent most of its time at FIAT being fixed.
Best one would be my Renault 5 GTT or my current Bugeye STi. Close call between the two.

Worst car has to be my 53 plate Mondeo TDCI, things always went wrong on it and theres so many things that you have to a job to do on it, ie the reason i still have it, an in jector went but mine is just before you could code them yourself.
Theres a few cars that have been good to me, the most surprising was my Discovery 50th edition, never broke down and was really nicely spec'd for a Landie, wish i hadn't sold it. I did like my Impreza's but i never seemed to have any luck with either of them, something was always going worng on them.

Best Car : Honda Integra Type-R DC2 (felt so special!) or the Honda S2000
Worst Car : Ford Fiesta 1.3 Flight (That non zetec engine was so gutless, I'll never forget going up a slight incline on a motorway and it slowing down with my foot flat to the floor in 5th!)

I would guess that a lot are ex-owners like me.
An enthusiast from Berlin made me an offer for my unique Classic Wagon that I could not refuse.
It was one of the first auto Wagons to be made and was very rapid, the kickdown was unbelievable.

Worst was a Volvo 440, to this day I don't know what possessed me to buy it, I must have been having a sensible moment.
Best - this is so difficult, I love my current WRX and can't see me ever parting with it but my first Mk1 XR2 was the love of my life for 4 years until it was stolen

Worst car: Rover 216Gsi Auto which I bought off my grandad as a runabout to replace the aging Nissan Sunny.
Despite being a D16 honda engine...it STILL blew the headgasket. Slow as f**k, handled like a barge and guzzled the fuel (28mpg). Combined with the typical 4" of brake pedal travel that all Rovers of that era with rear drums suffer (I manually readjusted the drums and handbrake...pedal travel was great for a week or two until the auto adjuster fecked it up again)
The 1.3 Nissan was faster, handled better, braked better, cheaper to tax and used less fuel. So sold the Rover and carried on using the Nissan.
Best car: Toss up between the Honda NSX and Monaro VXR. Although my favourite car to drive was my dad's 1986 911 Supersports

Worst:
1971 VW Beetle 1200 that I had in the late 80s, I swear this thing was frickin possessed and I'm convinced it was trying to kill not only me but my girlfriend at the time...let me give you one example and I swear to god this is true ....
Giving g/f a lift home from work one night and as she went to put her seatbelt on, the clunk clicky bit catch failed so it wouldn't hold the belt. No problem I said, only a few miles home but seeing as we are going through the city centre, just extend the belt and knot the belt round the holder bit, don't want to get stopped by plod ... you can see where this story is going !
Half a mile into the journey, whilst coming across the Dean Bridge in start stop rush hour traffic, the accelerator plunges to the floor and I look in the rear view mirror to see flames shooting up from a perished fuel pipe
You guessed it, g/f had knotted the belt super tight and I'm stood watching flames piling out the back of the car with her stuck in it...
I had an old powder fire extinguisher that kicked into life, and did its job (think g/f had managed to get out anyway but she was certainly delayed trying to get the knot out).....
This was just one instance, there had been brake failures, steering locked itself and a rear wheel came off (fractured hub) whilst i was drifting round my favourite roundabout etc etc etc
All this was in the space of 7 months that I owned it..
Oh and following the engine rebuild after the fire it immediately seized twice for no obvious reason
Anyway, best will be the 2009 Forester XT that I currently have and will be even better soon once Andyf has worked his magic on it

^^^ ha ha, brilliant
Not dissimilar to someone I know that took her 4 and 7 year old lads out sailing in storm force conditions. 8ft waves notwithstanding, she thought it would be a good idea to lash the young un's to the mast to prevent them falling in

I had a Beetle 1303s when I was 17. The worst performance of any car I have ever owned yet it saved my life when hit by an articulated lorry that was over taking another one coming out of a village. The rounded bonnet meant the car was pushed back where the police insisted had I been in a car with a flat bonnet I would have been flattened. That accident **** me up for a while. My Dad had the car rebuilt and it's still in the family now.

Worst tied between: Punto 55S (slow, bad ride and handling), E46 M3 (poor brakes and suspension and really because it fell so short relative to hype/expectation)
Best tied between: Evo IX (marked down due to the noise), GTR (marked down due to ride quality)
It is handling that makes a car really, and the Evo although criticised as synthetic had an absolutely delicious chassis, remarkably compliant, incredible in all weathers on appropriate tyres. I adored the way the S-AYC worked on a roundabout
Impreza gets honourable mention as it was my first fast car and with mods was quite something, although I suffered a lot with unreliable engines (EJ257) and gearboxes (5 and 6 speed, standard and "improved").

Very easy to drive fast, unlike most Vetecs it had a really nice powerband; Good torque at low revs that keeps going right to the red line. Just could have done with a bit more outright power to better use/abvuse the handling. Handling and braking was awesome, although a bitch if the back end did ever slide out (had to rect very quick), but that was usally in the wet or if it was cold.
Suprisingly good/smooth over potholes and bumpy roads too. Which would put a run-flat equipped BMW to shame.
Only problem with it is the average Impreza would out-acelerate it in a traffic light grand prix.....and guess what car it usually attracted to within 1ft of the rear bumper whenever I took it out for a drive? Yup - a scooby or evo
