I told you so ......
Ah yes, Labour.......the party who demonised and criminalised the motorist, while still treating them as the ultimate cash-cow?
The party who couldn't afford to send English kids to university, but could send them to die in TWO illegal wars?
THAT Labour???

Nice to see you are still around, Les.
I see that you still not quite of the opinion that it was a WORLDWIDE problem the Country was forced to face up to ..... Labour didn't bring the World to its knees.
The Tories are all for looking after the wealthiest in society - I am one, but I wasn't always in this position and would like to see everyone get a fair crack at the game of life ..... Labour did that, yes, you got the odd lazy layabout living off the state - but, are they any worse than Millionaires paying less tax than a School Cook?
The country is screwed, nothing anyone can do about it I feel ..... the rich are battening down the hatches, the poor are still working for a pittance, the economy isn't working.
One thing is for sure, Labour would have brought us out of this dire mess by growth, by building schools, hospitals, bridges, roads .... money would have been pumped into the infrastructure and not into the vaults of failed Banks.
Make no mistake, the Tories have pumped £350billion into their mates Banks ..... they could have spent that on building this country out of the mess the world plunged us!

Well I was not blaming NL for the state of the World's economy, but that they did nothing to avoid the parlous financial state that this country has been left in, not helped by the World economy of course. What NL did do was to use our good economy to overborrow as hard as they could go and use the cash to make us look far better off as a nation than we really were. I seem to remember telling you that at the time! That way they achieved their election successes. Totally irresponsible behaviour!
You may have guessed from my earlier post that I am not all that impressed by our present leadership...or lack of it! It is true that they were given a country to run which is very poorly placed financially, how can you personally excuse the note that was left for the new chancellor by his NL predecessor telling him that there was no money left for goodness sake?
As I said earlier, we need a proper leader who works for the good of our country, not looking over his shoulder all the time to see if a proposed course of action will profit his own party politically.
Say what you like about Maggie, she did at least get hold of this country by the scruff of the neck and worked on behalf of the UK as a whole.
As you know, I am apolitical and will support the party which is proving to do what is necessary to get us out of this mess, whatever it's colours. We desperately need positive action, but I would not trust that bouncing rotary named fellow and his mates as far as I can spit!
Les
13 years of Labour government saw them back a single horse in terms of economic growth - financial services. All that guff about looking at the likes of Ireland and Iceland as the shining examples of what small countries could do for themselves. When you're talking about political parties looking after the banking sector, Labour win hands-down. The fact that the UK banks were allowed to become "too big to fail" - all under Labour's watch. It would have been inconceivable for the coalition government in 2008/9 to allow these banks to fold.
Who do you think actually owns the banks? It's you and me, or our pension schemes at least. If the banks fail, we all lose our pensions, and give the state (read taxpayers) yet another headache to fund.
Further public borrowing to fund an infrastructure led recovery just wasn't possible - the public debt hole was already too deep. Had Labour not overspent quite so horrifically during the good, boom years there might have been something left in the pot. But Gordon Brown was so confident in his "no more boom and bust" rhetoric that it was all gone (along with a large part of the UK's gold reserves...).

I see that the Liberal Democrats are now agreeing with Labour .... in that cuts mean more recession means more cuts means more recession and on it goes down and down.
We need to break this Tory cycle which the Tories are hell bent on - we desperately need to get growth going ........ the Tories have pumped £350 Billion into the Banks and into the pockets of the rich - that money should have been spent on the Infrastructure of the country and energising growth!!

Part of me wished that Labour got in again so they could enjoy the sh1tstorm they created . Instead the Tories have been in only a few years and Labour have the cheek to blame them for the colossal mess we are in.
Saddam Hussein had to go - he defied the West ..... sorted.
Afganistan was the hub of the Taliban ..... sorted.
Don't see why we need anyones permission to go in and sort out so that it suits us and our interests?
You didn't mention Lybia?

OK, so YOU won't mind if THEY come and do terrorism here, then? After all, it suits THEIR interests?

mb
I certainly fell for the crap they spouted about WMD in Afghanistan....oh hang on a minute...
Of course that's what they are going to say. Irrespective of whether it is true or not. I doubt even you are so dumb as not to realise that.
