3 years graft and its paid off - my apprenticeship
Congratulations on all your hard work
I always have a lot of respect for people who work hard to get themselves through tough times. Sounds as if you have got yourself into a much better position! Who says hard graft doesn't pay?

Well done mate
It must have been a tough slog but you did it and can now enjoy a better life with the family.
Good to hear some positive news for once

PS; I've also worked in many far flung places in my time, and can assure you that being from the north east, and being either ICI or British Steel trained still carries a serious amount of weight in many quarters
There aren't many sites I've visitted over the years that haven't been stuck with more than their fair share of Geordies, Mackems, or Smoggies.
You even encounter the (very) odd Monkey Hanger

My brother still lives in Hartlepool and works for Tata

Well done, shows the difference between whining for four years and being in the position and where you can end up if you put the effort in, a bit of luck is involved as well but so many bemoan their position in life but do nothign to improve it or expect instant results, it is a long haul.
I think people see celebrities and whatever and judge their own position relative to them, really all most people should aspire to is being self sufficient, fulfilled, healthy and happy, a few quid to spend is a bonus but beyond that, masses of money isnt the be all and end all.
Keep it up and who knows where you will end up.

Congrats Andy a great achievement. Im sure you wondered if you were doing the right thing at the time with the uncertain economy and Im sure at times it was hard to maintain motivated and to stick to your guns.
Well done.
So the burning question, when are you going to buy another scooby?

Well done COB, glad all the hard work paid off. I qualified as a fitter/machinist, did that for a few years and then went into teaching. Word of advice, DON'T go into teaching mate. Stay where you are, a much nicer place.

Whoo-hoo, just got my first payslip since my payrise
Nice little increase considering I'm on 90% wages in my base craft year, roll on 25th and pay day!
