As my user name suggests a Gixer 750y

Full acraprovic, High Comp gas flow head, Power commander, Bmc filter, PVM wheels, Penski shock, Ohlins valved front forks & S.Damper, AP brakes,520 chain & sprockets etc etc....Plus most important of all a lap timer to see just how slow i'm going

Only use it for the track and 2 or 3 trips to the Nurburgring each year(Great fun when I trailer the bike to the Ring with my Sti 5 type-r as when its dry i use the bike and when its wet its time for the Scoob....Best of both worlds).

If anyone knows of any good late Honda CR500's about i'd love to know as my next project is a bonkers Supermotard bike

Keep it upright

Yamaha YZ 250 moto-cross and Enduro's only. Quite fancy a road bike but have to admit I'd probably kill myself.

Honda VFR800FI.

V4 burble is even better than flat 4. And even the scooby isn't
quite a match for the howl of this baby at 11000+rpm.

Another VTR1000 Agree that the fuel range is very poor less than 80 miles to fuel light on at the Isle Of Man (3 weeks & counting )

Cheers,

Just in case none of you Gixxer riding guys, www.gixxer.com is the home of GSX-R's on the internet. Non-Gixxer riders welcome, but you will have to put up with some friendly bashing

I have a Y2K Fireblade. With Ohlins suspenders and steering damper, Power commander, full titanium race exhaust. Also two teeth extra on the rear sprocket that makes a big difference to acceleration, but drops the top speed down to aroung 160mph. I can blow away my mates R1 on anything other than a motorway. Oh and by the way, here in the west of Scotland I hardly ever see a traffic cop much less get hassled by them.

for the guy who was asking about gilera dna's.

the only one worth even considering is the 180cc version. it shares the same engine with the gilera runner and the italiajet dragster.

they are pretty quick (compared to a car, not a bike) getting to 60mph in about 5 seconds, and they can be modded to go quicker. they are a laugh to ride in town but have not much torque so u can't really compete with a car on a fast bit of duel carraigeway.

basically get one as a fun toy or for local running around. nice easy way to build up some ncb.

Yamaha XV1600 'Wildstar'. 1600cc pushrod Vee twin monster cruiser thingy. 100ftlbs torque @ 2000 rpm

Thinking about a Honda VTR though. As long as it's a V twin it's cool in my book

u should maybe look at the suzuki TL1000 then, they are supposed to be quite a laugh to ride, as with the SV650.

Question

These Gilera then...

Could I get a 180cc after doing my CBT or would I have to stick with a 125cc? I'm not over bothered about setting landspeed records, I see it as a way of gettin used to riding bkes on the road and building up some ncb.

Exclamation

For mods to the ZX6 be careful what exhaust you choose. I spent a lot of money upgrading mine and achieved 120 bhp at the rear wheel. TTS screwed the first conversion up so stay well clear of them. Don’t go for noise, and if you can afford it the best to go for is Ackrapovic. Beware...Noise doesn’t mean more power...Some of the cheaper cans will actually give you less performance than the OEM can. Plus if you change the can you will need to get a dynojet kit.

Beware..get someone to fit the kit and make sure they use the needles for the can not just the ones that come in the pack..Also I had a G2, the emulsion tubes cannot be changed independently. The needles can sometimes have very tiny burrs on them, these will wear the emulsion tubes into an egg shape. You need to make sure they are rubbed with a very fine emery cloth, as otherwise it is new carbs in time. tres expensive.

nope, u can't ride the 180cc on a cbt, u would need to take your full test.

to be honest your best off taking your full test anyway if u wanna ride a bigger bike at some point. if u wanna get used to riding a bike i wouldn't really recommend the gilera cos it is nothing like riding a proper bike. the wheels are small and they are dodgy to ride in the wet, and its just a question of pull the throttle and go. unless u have an appaling sense of balance then just go for a proper bike to start with, even if its just a 250cc.

Oh right, I see!

I ride minmoto at the moment, that's just twist and go. I'd say my balance must be quite good, I can get mi knee down!

I thought the Gilera might be a fun way to get into big bikes, which I deffo want to do now after watching the superbikes today I spose I should just get off mi **** and do mi cbt then see how I get on, I have access to a Honda 125

One thing that does concern me tho is that I'm an abslute looney on anything with wheels I keep up with Scoobs in my Fiesta and I had mi knee down in less than an hours riding on the minimoto, I can't help thinking I'd come to a sticky end on a big bike

I've got the remains of a ZX7-R - after a big get off on the M11 recently, so looking for another to replace it.

My first bike was an NC30 - you can't go wrong they're brilliant - and the RVF is even better looking.
