Point is if social practices could be understood say from the reasons that Actors give for their behaviour, then we wouldn't need critical sociology which tasks itself with lifting the veil on common sense and/or illusion and finding the real reasons and causes of social practice.

You sound like you are naturalising this national project to win medals and the popular celebration resultant from it. That would be common sense but we know that is flawed.

TdW. The point is that you seem to be trying to come at this from the perfect angle from which everything else is up for criticism and all others that don't fit your view are pathetic. In reality there is no saying that any such thing as the perfect angle exists, and that means everything is potentially up for criticism, including sociology itself.

Also, most people with half a brain realise that there are potentially many possible motives for behaviour. They're not nationalist idiots, so they don't need you incessantly pointing out to them that they are.

If everyone was critical of every kind of behaviour all the time, no one would ever do anything apart from think.
