Jessica's bottom, as far as I'm able to tell, is perfect.

Our medals ratio, with respect to per head of population, certainly is right up there!

Well brilliantly done to the regatta Olympians. 2 more golds and a silver this morning. Back to 3rd in the table.

And barring a disaster, Jessica a nailed on cert for gold too. Can't wait for the 800m later tonight.

Now got the track cycling on. C'mon GB, spank the RoW and be back in time for tea and medals! Literally.

I'm still laughing out loud at your 'Who cares honestly....nausiatic one eyed jingoism' comment although I think its a good thing to back up your nation, and at the moment, nationalism is running hot through people's veins. Why shouldn't it. I have heard from a lot of people that the opening ceremony was also a nausiatic one eyed jingoistic display, and all those people are white, British intellectuals. One of them is a very well-known sociologist. He is a 70+ folkie, but young at heart. I think you belong to that post-modern group of intellectuals.

I imagine if you were a 26 stone lump of xenophobic lard it wouldn't be easy at all to get excited or inspired by our success

I'm surprised you were able to tolerate the obviously phallocentric vision of the 19th century Industrial revolution especially given the symbolism of the massive smoke stacks.

Anyway I liked some of the spectacle of the opening ceremony, but the overall tone was one of smug satisfaction, complacency, at our politically correct orthodoxy, it was just as political and one eyed as anything like The Triumph of The Will, just more clever since it gives an aesthetic of being edgy and left-field, but the effect is the same; to glorify the ideal.

Very interesting. Especially with you identifying the phallocentric vision of the 19th century industrial revolution. I still quite admired the theatrics.

Back to joining the celebrations>

Great day for Team GB today!

11 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze uptil now with the UK at 3rd place. Keep gold coming!

Murray is no more miserable and just can't stop smiling. Can someone give him a slap for me to make him serious for the final? He must kick Federer's butt tomorrow, and bag another gold for the UK.

As a barometer, at this same equivalent point in Beijing (as measured from midnight last night), we only had 8 medals. But ended up with 47 by the end.

So that would mean we'll end up with a projected 129 this time round LOL

A barometer of what? What is the medal tally revelating to us?
