yep its a ballache in Linux as well. It goes potty if it tries to save stuff and the path to save location is on a drive that hasn't been mounted.

on sites i much prefer nzbmatrix because of their movie categories.

Whats the best way to play films for instance. I don't want my computer on for watching a movie so I take it I need a media player with HDD or something similar?

Also are these newsgroups good for software as well as media?

yes and yes. Ant and I bought an AC Ryan PlayOn HD media box a while back. stick a cat6 cable from it to your router and setup the network shares and it will play 1080p across the network. in fact pretty much everything I have thrown at it. I think Ant bought a new media box recently so I will let him tell you about it.

I stuck a 1TB drive in my AC Ryan but found that stuff streams across the network ok to I only have music on it now.

Really sorry for all the questions,
but if i go out and buy this today
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/wester...20191-pdt.html

I can use my Panasonic DMP-BDT210 to stream stuff off it as it is DLNA compliant? would this be correct and a good enough option for me?

Hard wiring it wouldn't be such a ballache as my router and blu-ray player are both in my "home cinema" room.

All depends on what formats your tv supports , does it support Mkv and mp4? These are the most popular two used.

Ant, how does this compare to the AC Ryan? The latest firmware on the AC is pretty cluncky. I know the hardware is over 2 years old but it works. How is the new media player? as easy to use as the AC?

It'll stream a lot better from the 2tb nas to the media player.

Also ideal for flac playing

I use:-

https://www.newzbin2.es/
http://nzbmatrix.com/

for .nzb files

and http://astraweb.com/ for the news server.

As for a newsreader, you can't get better than this one.
http://www.newsbin.com/

Has anyone noticed there seems to be a lot of incompletes on Astraweb lately, or is it just me?

Never had that problem when I used Giganews / Easynews.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I might find an operating system for my PC? NZBMatrix doesn't seem to have what I'm after.
