Diclofenac Sodium worked a treat on my sciatica last time round.

Previously I had been suffering for months with the typical thigh pain/tingling and turned my ankle quite badly. Whilst trying to negotiate the last few stairs on crutches I slipped, fell into a heap and the pain was gone! Wouldn't recommend trying that as a cure though...

I'm going to have to try though, even though some days it takes all my energy just to spend all day on my feet at work without then having to exercise after that. But, I'll never get better by moaning.

Good luck to all of you finding a way to cope/improve your situation, as I'm sure by the sounds of it, you have it a lot worse than me and I know how bad I can feel at times.
Where, exactly is your pain Lisa?
True sciatica is down the rear of the leg, and into the buttock.
But there are quite a few nerves that go down the leg, mine, for example, was/is down the front of the thigh, outer edge, the front large outer muscle on the calf, and around belt line above the buttock, plus into the hip joint, all right side.

If we hadn't been coming to France for the wife's long holiday, I'd probably have had a nerve block by now, since the original op worked for 5 weeks, only for the pain to reappear one day

If you've had the same pain for more than 6 weeks, time to see the doc and ask for a referral, MRI etc.

DON'T just suffer. It MIGHT go away, it probably won't

Regards, Jeff.

A combination of Diclofenac and Tramadol works well. If you do take the Diclofenac go for the gastro friendly version as the normal version can cause acid reflux.

Tramadol.......omg, not for me.

I REALLY had hallucinations with that stuff. Saw my mum, she'd been dead 12 years. NOT good

And your mind doesn't say, "oh look, that must have been a hallucination", it says, "OMFG, what the **** just happened?"

Talk about panic attack......

Yikes that's definitely not good.
I found it an incredibly relaxing (body and mind) drug. I didn't take it for more than three days in a row (didn't want to get addicted), but that duration was enough to ease the pain.

I took tremadol I think and it made me feel terrible like manic and jumpy and was hard to sleep. I took something else which was another opiate and it was ok.

My worse drug experience is Malerone which gave me chronic insomnia. I slep about 2 hours of bad sleep a day only for about 3 weeks.

Your medication tapped into your unconscious mind, and brought up your mum who lingers on somewhere in the backdrop of your memories.

Sciatica is not easy to live with. I don't have it, but some people tell me of their sciatica agony they have to put up with. One girl from work tells that a chiropractor helped her out with that. Nothing else worked for her in past as well, she says.

I think I have it lightly compared to all of you. Mine is constant but as long as I have a day of moving it turns more like an ache.

I'm coming up to the year mark with it and have lower back ache now. (at the same time) Really I need to go back to one of those guys that rubs you and makes you feel all good.

Just signed up with the local doctor (as we have just moved) and as soon as he does my check up I will ask him to send me to the best ( I have private health care)
doing my daily streches alone doesn't really help.
Did a Yoga for back ache and that did work for a few days... Untill I went fishing for 8hrs

When my back pain started, it was originally right across the whole of my lower back (just above the bum) but worst in the centre. My Dad has ankylosing spondylitis, so I had an MRI a couple of years back to check that out, the first scan showed an area of inflammation, but the repeat a few months later was fine apparently, although I was taking steroids at the time, so not sure if that would matter, docs didn't seem to think so.

In the meantime, what started to happen was my left leg started to get numb sometimes (sometimes a burning sensation), mainly if I stood still for a long time, but would ease off when walking again. Sometimes it would be accompanied by a pain in the bum cheek and lower back on that side but not all of the time. Now that leg (thigh) is always a bit numb to the touch and flairs up now and then. However, this has all started in my right leg now, only worse and there is pain right down the back and side of my thigh up into my sort of hip area, unfortunately walking about doesn't ease the numbness/burning so I have to just put up with it until it eases off. The last time I asked at the doctors, they said they thought it was a nerve nipping in my hip, so I've just put up with it since (that was before it started on the right side).

Anyhow, enough about me. I really hope you will get sorted out, it's such a shame you only got such short term relief

Same goes for everyone else suffering.

Depends on how badly the disc is ruptured and if it can repair itself.

Some can....many can't.
