Is there not an over-size bore for the 2.5 as there is for the 2.0 (2.1) and 2.2 (2.35)?.

If 2.5s are limited to circa 500bhp, what would you say the safe limit for a 2.7 would be?

Isn't 2.7 getting a bit big to be efficient on a four cylinder? For optimum efficeincy individual cylinders shouldn't exceed 600cc.

Who from? I've been quoted £1700, supplying CDB, rods and pistons to the builder.

No offence meant, but anyone doing it for £3000 can only be doing half a job.

i have a 2005 sti uk i am looking at doing one of these options in the winter my mapper has steered me in the direction of 2.5 all sounded good until i read on here now im unsure
i have other cars so my scoob is a toy i drive it as much as possible and like to push it hard i will also be doing 6+ trackdays (and a trip to the ring
) a year currently have mdx321t and supporting mods 1st map 397bhp not got figures for 2nd map yet but guessing about 430bhp ish
i am still on tmic which i will be swapping for fmic
am i right in thinking the 2.3 has all the good points from the 2.1/2.5
and none of the negatives ?
not after monster figures just a good all rounder

Perfectly correct about the 2.3 mate, the only negative is the cost.

2.3 just not needed for anything under 600 bhp. 2.1 or 2.5 is the way to go

Nope, I use cossy stopper gaskets and no problems. I know plenty over 600 with no gaskets issues.
