Yeah, I see your point, it does look a bit like a a costume you might find in a spin off ofthe modern version of Battlestar galatica doesn't it!
Mate summed it up well: "It doesn't look like a cyborg/Robot; it looks like a man in a costume!"
Maybe we're not seeing the whole thing though; it might be too bulky for him to wear all the time when its not fully in shot/or there might be CGI embellishments to come?

I'm really hoping that it turns out to be good. Dredd was awesome so if they manage something similarly decent then fine but I will still miss the old clunky suit!

This looks like its going to suck, badly.

I hear its PG13 hence the rather toned down Murphy death scene. He doesn't "lose the arm" by the looks of it. It looks like when first awakened he asks "What have you don't to me" which kind of puts paid to any chance of seeing Murphy re-awaken in little steps throughout the film - even though some bird says he's over-riding his programming - its his programming to know to ask what has been done to him? His visor comes up from the start rather than any mystery as to what has been done to him.
Also he looks great until Keaton decides to spray him black. Then he looks like a Power Ranger.
I have such low hopes for this film I'll probably wait until it gets to Sky Movies.

I remember watching the first film when I was a kid. Certainly not in my teens and the scene where the guy falls into the vat of acid gave me nightmares lol.
I understand the financial gain in opening the movie to younger audiences by losing some of the graphic scenes, but where is the point in remaking a movie if you're going to wash it out and make it look like a channel 5 film.
Wait for Robocop vs Megagoldfish to be released straight after

Looks a bit cack to be honest. The original was pretty hardcore, especially the un-cat version.
But then a lot of re-makes haven't really done well, so I can see why they want it to appeal to wider audience.

Can still picture it now even though I haven't seen the film for years...

This is Robocop 3.5. It looks terrible.
The original is one of my favourite films. The acid scene never really bothered me but the Murphy death scene wasn't pleasant, in fact I think I wrote down the counter reading on my VHS tape so that I could just forward to where he wakes as a robot lol.
Looks like the real violence in the reboot is when he goes against full robot versions of himself. Much like *shudders* the prequels to Starwars when they could hack the robot troopers to pieces with the sabres and still retain the child/toy friendly rating.

On the plus side, they're re-imagining it, rather than directly copying the original; some interesting themes, Samuel L Jackson, new Murphy looks capable and the suit actually looks pretty good IMHO, better in silver than black though.
On the negative side, if they tone it down for the kids, it won't work. Robocop is just not amenable to being a PG13 film.

Unfortunately when Hollywood reimagines classic movies they are normally done by people with no imagination they are just looking for $$$$.
Great cast imo Gary Oldman,Samuel L Jackson,Miguel Ferrer,Jackie Earl Haley but unfortunately we know what to expect.

I think this was part of what made the original special though; it had a hollywood budget but everything about it felt nasty and cheap. Classic Paul Verhoven!
It was those funny cheesy ads that make it "feel" cheap, I thought they were great, a real clever parody and critique of the excesses of where society was heading. He did the same kind of ads in Starship Troopers and Total Recall too.
