IIIIIIIIIIIIIII Like it!!!

Unfortunately tho, they're messing with another cult classic and if its not done the right way it'll get panned.

Mad Max 4 is set for release too but with no Mel Gibson in it I cant see it being a hit with fans of the original. Hugh Jackman would have been a good replacement but they've gone with Tom Hardy, like thats going to work.

jonc 09 July 2012 01:25 PM

It is going to be completely new remake that will not follow the original storyline apparently. It'll have Hugh Laurie playing the (typically British) villan, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates the cyborg and Samuel L Jackson as a media mogal but not clear as to how this will work it's way into the plot. So there is a strong cast who will hopefully add some weight to the storyline and won't be just another CGI filled extraviganza. I hope they'll keep the really funny cheesy ads in the film. Can't wait.

prodriverules 09 July 2012 01:27 PM

Hopefully worth a watch......................hopefully!

Ant 09 July 2012 01:36 PM

You sold it to me with Samuel L Jackson

MJW 09 July 2012 01:38 PM

Another franchise reboot that didn't need doing. Hollywood is bereft of original ideas.

oldsplice 09 July 2012 02:08 PM

Give me strength! Can they not, for once, come up with something original?

Oh, and how about doing it in proper colour, instead of everything being washed out, green/blue and orange. Just for a change, like......

Neanderthal 09 July 2012 02:11 PM

Oh God no, I didn't like the idea before clicking the link and now I hate it. The CGI on the 'teaser' is shocking.
Agree with the above, it didn't need rebooting.

I was anti the reboot of Total Recall, however the trailer for it at least looks like it might be worth a watch, but this?! I'd rather watch the original one again.

jonc 09 July 2012 02:25 PM

Wow, you wrote off a film based on a 55 second treaser for a film over a year away from release. You have high standards!!

nizmo80 09 July 2012 02:43 PM

NICE !

robocop was ace I hope they do a good job of it tho

fivetide 09 July 2012 03:01 PM

Depends how it's done I guess.

The Italian Job is a good film in its own right and I was prepared to hate it.

Because they didn't try to remake it it wasn't as bad as it could have been and works as a film in its own right.

Tom Hardy is a decent actor.

Quite like this idea of making up fake websites for the companies in films. Elysium is another.

Can anyone here actually name a decent movie that has come out of Hollywood in the last ten years?

Actually, I can't think of one off the top of my head. :(

Dedrater 09 July 2012 04:44 PM

Before i looked, the only film i could name off the top of my head was Inglourious basterds, but agree, The Departed is a quality film.

You just said that word. Remake. :p

finalzero 09 July 2012 05:17 PM

Hmm judging by the artists renditions he is going to be a more ninja-esque fighting machine as opposed to the retarded lump of metal that everyone felt sorry for cos he couldn't walk fast enough to dodge bullets (but he had a bad ass gun).

fivetide 09 July 2012 05:24 PM

Last King of Scotland (2006)

I think Kill Bill sneaks in

We bought Pan's Labyrinth too.

Have to be a Disney/Pixar job in there somewhere too.

+1000 Hollywood run out of ideas every other film is a remake. Sad when they now they remake films barely 10 or 20 years old. Sadder that people pay to see them hence why they keep doing it.
