I rarely bother reading threads on here nowadays, as every thread seems to be spammed/ruined by the same people wanting an argument.
It isn't just a Scoobynet thing, or even car thing however.
I go on a football forum and a F1 forum, and they are exactly the same.
The only forums that don't get the crap are the local ones (Surrey Scoobies / South East Scoobies etc)

I've met tubby and can honestly say he's a nice chap. He's as fat as **** but actually not a bad bloke.

I think Rick hit the nail on the head and it will indeed put others off posting in SNET - BUT, in real life, we have banter and thats all I take it as.

It does seem to be getting worse over the years. Not sure if it's the new young era that can afford the classics or the old guard just getting bitter and bored in old age, but it's certainly changing.
Not at all, banter is only banter if you and the people involved know it is. I.E calling someone a chav and saying their car is ****, when you don't know them and they don't know you, is not banter and is direct abuse IMO.
The place is over run with newbies that think they know everything about Scoobs after 2 minutes at their local cruise in the Maccy D's car park

People placing pictures of their car ASKING for everyone's opinion, can expect GOOD and BAD replies. Thats the nature of giving people an opinion.
In real life, if one of your "mates" wound you up, you'd take it like a man and retort with something equally amusing and you'd all laugh about it.
Treat the 'net as the same. If someone is trying to push buttons (which a LOT of people do lol) just either ignore or retort. Dont get angry, dont threaten, dont QUIT.
Its all about having a laugh, educating yourself off the other grease monkeys (Thank you all, you're an invaluable source of free information).

When I first joined last year I had lots of great help from the likes of Banny. But over the last 6 months I've seen so many newbies ask for help only to be abused and eventually leave.
If someone causes a new member to want to leave then that person should be banned.

My earlier point was that people come here (general Subaru discussion) to read about cars, not to see every thread ruined by petty arguments.
If you want a row there are other sections on this site especially for that (and spouting other crap), there's no need to ruin every section of this site
