What‘s everyone‘s thoughts on putting a rear tubular subframe on a roadcar?
Am thinking along the lines of solid mounting the frame but PU or hardened rubber bushings for the rear diff.
Would that be too much NVH or not a big increase? After all previous models‘ rear subframes were solid mounted, too as far as I‘m aware..

I'm putting Andy's subframes on my road going Bugeye. No choice but to solid mount the rear diff on his design as it's attached directly to the subframe. Won't be able to use the car for a few months yet at least so can't give my opinion on the increased NVH but I do expect it to be much higher than normal. I can tell you his work is top quality though! Already have the rear and am just waiting for him to make the matching front for me.

Yeah, they do look great! Would love to hear your feedback once it‘s back on the road. Would be ideal to lighten and stiffen things up but not sure how bearable it would be for day to day driving.

Like I say it’ll be quite a while until the cars back on the road. It’s just a bare shell right now. And it’s not stock in other ways that’ll make the NVH harsher so I couldn’t really give an honest opinion how it’ll be on a normal/stock car. I expect there’s going to be quite a bit of whine from the diff.

Oh also there’s a bracket I had to take off my Bugeye’s spare wheel well before the subframe would fit and you lose the toe adjustment of the stock subframe so you’ll need some adjustable arms to adjust your toe. So not quite a bolt on affair.

Thanks Rocky, that‘s some good info there! Sounds like an awesome project! A little diff whine wouldn‘t bother me but don‘t want anything too overpowering. It‘s a fine line between nice mechanical sounds/feedback and sounding like the car is disintegrating!
