They say that it's tough out there ....
Luckily I grew a pair and it twigged how some on here (in this thread) enjoy the misery of others
Not sure of my pay rise this year but I'm coming out of my apprenticeship onto my base craft year.

Carry on
To be honest? No.
I came straight out of uni before the fees went up and I got a decent job in between the "double dip" recession. Right now I've never had it better but, I wasn't really working before the crash so meh.

I got made redundant in 2008 due to the recession. Spent the last 4 years building up my own business (something I never planned to do). Now earning more than I was on when employed. We had it very hard for the first couple of years. Money was extremely tight.
I'm very aware that it could all go wrong again so very cautious with our money.

.... but, let's be honest - who is really feeling it?
In fact, who has ever felt it?
My Pension has suffered and the income from my savings has fallen off a cliff .... but I'm not struggling or suffering.
Yes, I would like a decent income on my savings and would like a bigger pension - but, I have a job and the payrises have outpaced inflation .... just!! For example, this years offer is 6.7% - pathetic, but keeps me marking time.
So, come on - be truthful, are you hurting at all ... really?

No effect here at all really. Redundant last March and get my pension from tomorrow when I'm 50, also get a huge tax free lump sum to go with it. Now working for myself earning 50% more than I was before with no NI to pay either though did go on the dole for 6 months last year purely because I could, not because I was looking for work as I wasn't.
Currently having a beer sitting on the terrace of an apartment in Villefranche Sur Mer having just returned from qualifying in Monaco before race day tomorrow.
Life is good, very good.

Very nice , my sis had place there which she rented when she was working on the boats, it was either there or Beaulieu right on the coast anyway
Went there couple times, before that it was Menton.

Oh, and we had full hospitality with pit access on Thursday as well, FREE.
Happy, happy days.

My wife had been made redundant four times in 2 years and I am doing one job instead of two. Household income is half last year which was our best ever (then this one the lowest for >ten years) and expenditure on a new business and barn conversion/renovation, plus tax bills from last year means we are spending far more than we are earning and getting more into debt (mortgage).
However, we still run three cars including one I would still drive if I won the lottery, the present mortgage is below my annual income, and the house is worth seven times that and hopefully will keep up with what we spend on it since we are working very hard for value indeed.
So some factors related to recession, some by choice to deliberately spend during a recession!

Definitely been burned in our family. We have had to take my son & his family in for 8 months as lays off's, lack of orders have prevailed. It appears that the tide is shifting a little but no guarantees as yet, there is a long way to go!

Yes, but you don't live there. You live in Cardiff, so life can't be very good at all

Are you 12? Do you realise it's not the smartest thing calling someone a child sex offender on a public forum? That's kinda libellous you know...
