Great topic and I joined last week after seeing this thread, username Nath911t. Feel free to add me as it'd be nice to see how other people are doing to try and motivate me to stick to it. My wife gave up after 2 days!
I've managed to lose 6lbs, with a daily calorie total of 1280 although I've over shot that most days
My target is to lose 21lbs taking me to 13 stone, which is basically where I was before stopping smoking - problem is I started again and now need to lose both weight and kick the smoking.
Mine is mostly around my middle and it got to the stage that when I sat down I looked like I'd eaten a space hopper. My major downside is while the sun's out and it's nice and warm - I like the odd pint of Guinness and never know when to quit

Overall, yes. I have over shot the 1280 a few times, but I would say that would more of the weekend drink more than food itself.
Sometimes you know what your doing wrong, but think it's ok to treat yourself or resume your previous routine. I know I need to break it and discipline myself some more but at the same time I've shown I can do something to reduce the lard

16.5 this morning, following a dump of epic proportions 
I weigh myself with no clothes, in the morning after a poo as I am weighing me and my lard, not clothes, shoes, food, urine, my last two brews and poop as that lot can add a stone !

Had a bad day yesterday, but back on "it" today. Sadly, with exercise, I'm going to come in WELL under my calories.
And tomorrow is footy as well - there goes a good 900 calories
Wifey seems to think that my upper stomach muscles are starting to come back through in definition..... could be bullsh1t just to make me feel better, but I don't seem to be losing lots of weight.
This makes me think that with my muscle size was pretty good before, perhaps it's just a case of re-toning what's there and some general exercise.
I only draw these conclusions due to not losing LOTS of weight like you lot are - but I'm exercising, and not eating as much cr@p as before......
We'll see.

I'm trying to lose maybe 6-8 lbs. On a diet since two days ago. I've been eating too many carbs the last few months and I'm inactive due to being ill so a bit of weight is creeping on. My usual weight is to have maybe 10% body fat and I'm not happy with more.

I'm aiming for about 1500 ATM with no refined carbs like white bread. Main problem for me the last few months is I eat like extra bread with a meal and occasionally snack during the day. It was ok when I was active but now it is a problem.
TBH, people need not go OTT with this calorie count etc. People only need to do all that if they have seriously warped their lifestyle due to this-n-that and look really odd, and caused danger to their health in future/liability to others. Other than that, people should accept themselves, enjoy their life, and chill. Life is about living, not fearing every two bleddy minutes of getting fat or looking fat. Who cares if you are a bit overweight, man? As long as you are a nice person, that should suffice. Just buy bigger clothes FGS!
All this extra-sensivity to become picture-perfect is insane. I'm sure (or should I hope) everybody has better things to do than that. People need to take it easy a bit. Some are a bit rounded than other lean ones- so what. If one eats to live, and not live to eat, that will do. Then you can eat everything in balance apart from the fellow human beings and pets.

That isn't much. 4 weetabix and an apple is about 500, decent sandwich is 500, tuna and a soup would take you to about 1280.

It's the middle age spread that needs working on and having a chinese literally on my door step hasn't helped, along with aquiring the taste for guinness this year as well.
The scales show I've lost 6lbs but I haven't lost any more but I feel the belly is starting to go down. I can now see my big toe

I can do without comments and I cant say that isnt part of this, but it is a small part, dont want to have high blood pressure, diabetes and all that other good stuff, I want my trousers to fit and to move easier, I want to be able to cycle faster and not feel old before my time.
Am noticing the benefits already, mainly in terms of pants and a couple of people have commented positively.
Had Lasagne and meatballs tonight, a quarter of a one kilo one, what I used to call a starter and would have with chips, six meatballs, was nice but seemed a tiny portion, however, after it I dont feel any different to if I had eaten twice that.
Think I have eaten too little/done too much the last couple of days, not slept well so wanted some carbs/fat and rest though still fitting in the 1500 give or take.

i think its a superb app.
when you think about the billions spent in slimming clubs and buying special foods, and this app keeps it all in check for free its great.
ive been following it for a week and abit, i feel happier, clothes fit better, and im eager to get home from work and get out and take the dog out, where as before i would sit there after tea shovelling biscuits and crisps all night.
ive even got the bike out of the shed, put it back together and i will go out for a spin on it over the weekend

I won't knock reasonable efforts. Its the obsessive efforts and too much attention to every ounce of weight that are the signs of poor body image or some other underlying issue/s. They need to get their heads sorted. All they need to do is that they need to start eating to live well; instead of living with the purpose to overeat every time as if they have never eaten before, and as if this is the last time they are eating so they might as well keep eating until its all over. The latter also need to get their heads sorted.

You recognised that you were going down the wrong road, and you are now going on a right one. I admire your enthusiasm and determination, good on you, and hope you maintain it.
So does being underweight. My Kids Dad has had to lose weight through blood pressure problems. Not being awful here, but he has aged 10 years. He looks dreadful. I think over 40's have to be careful how much and how fast they lose the weight, otherwise they can become gaunt.
Slow but sure, does not have such a dramatic effect.

My missus lost a stone and a half and her mate I think wa sa bit jealous of her new slim profile, so she said "You so look a bit gaunt though", as her belly was spilling over her jeans....
I am on 16.4 now, coming off fairly quickly but still steadily, just need to not get complacent or cocky, still along way to go to 13/14.
