Yep more likely caffeine as I would have at least 6 cups of coffee in a working day and I'm limiting myself to 2 cups of tea.

Other than a headache which I'm sure will pass i feel much better generally drinking water!!

I can't get by without my coffee. I'm finding it quite easy sticking to the daily allowance of calories without having to really change my diet that much which leads me to think that it's my sheer lack of exercise which is resulting in my 'belly/moob combo'

Well, not a big step forward, but I lost my 1st lb as of today
Started in earnest before one of the hardest weekends socially!!
Simple exercise, light jogging & walking the dog. Bit of Wii Fit (!)..... and not eating sh1te food.
Coming in under my calorie allowance of 1900-odd so I haven't quite cracked the balance of food intake

But I'm building up, back to my old days of weight-training. Going to football on Friday - 1st time in 3 yrs since I got injured. Again, nothing too serious - just a jog and kick about.....

Onwards and "downwards"

Dan

Well, I thought I'd play along with the app. I'm 350 over my count in calorific count. But that doesn't bother me at present, I'm only on day 1 and was more interested what my intake was / is.

Looking at it, it seems the only thing missing from my lifestyle is exercise!

Ok, I might have fluffed up the goals. Now they are a reasonable set I'm 107 over. That means cutting out the cookie I had earlier!

I came in at 1575, 75 over my 1500 (gone down from 1600 as it thought I was 29 for some reason and not 41), but according to it I did 884 cals of exercise, happy with today.

depending on previous carb intake, the protein only diet results in pretty rapid weightloss and so its regarded as very effective and results in the individuals perception of a great result.

the reality is somewhat different however. if you realise that then its not really a problem but if not its quite misleading.

what happens after the first week?

going on a diet is such a misleading concept - but if you understand the entirety of the plan it isnt a major problem, but ultimatley a diet is not a longterm solution. although its quite likely to give the user enough results to merit its use, that in itself is no bad thing

Try stapling your mouth shut. That should help

Must admit, my diet yesterday was terrible, one coffee, a spoon of coleslaw, a couple if pieces of crackling, three small slices of baguette, 7g of butter, a can of Pepsi and three pints of bitter.

Not masses of food, but empty calories.

I see this as getting into good habits as I go into middle age as thats when things start getting more critical, you dont see many fat old blokes and when you do what quality of life do they have, I want to be the wiry old bugger like next door who must be seventy plus and goes off for days at a time on his bike.

I am identifying my problems with food and drink and working out strategies to work around them, like today we went to the pub as there was a birthday and work was paying, normally I order a salad or a sandwich plus chips, like I am terrified that there wont be enough food and I usually have a pint, today I ordered Dover Sole, New Potatoes and Pak Choi and it was delicous, was plenty of food but I wasnt stuffed so there is a win, I dont need to order tonnes of carbs, just a balanced meal and I dont need alcohol at lunch which is kind of a new rule for me.

Okay what's the last thing you need when you're 3 days into a diet?

Your wife coming in and stating we need to bake a lemon drizzle cake to practice for the street party baking contest......oh god!!!!!

So far I've caved and had 2 slices and it was sooooooo good

But I've been very good in what I've eaten the rest of the time and eating more vegetables etc

lol - oops eh

Well what you DON'T need is to weigh yourself (even after a load of exercise) at a different time each time.

Quickest way to demotivation. Will have to see what the verdict is at 4.30pm tomorrow!

Yep, my wife told me to always weigh myself first thing on a morning, or straight after your morning dump

I think you can have the odd treat, just need to fit it in with your allowance, I am finding it fairly easy to ignore stuff like that, I am actually enjoying what I am eating, wife did Taco's for the kids and I had those with a load of salad, easy on the Meat, tiny sprinkle of cheese and a few chillies and some chilli sauce, think strongly falvoured stuff feels more satisfying, not hungry now either, the Taco shells arent too bad at 42 cals, the meat cant be great but only had 100 grammes.

Have cycled 15 miles today and walked the dog for 45/50 mins, came in just under my calories without the exercise, think it overestimates a bit so taking it with a pinch of salt that I have burnt 1145 calories.

How are you guys all doing?

I've had a very good week, I haven't gone crazy but I've cut out all the rubbish I eat, haven't had any bread and cut my 6 coffees at work a day to a maximum of 1, although didn't have any today.

I've been eating healthier meals and drinking litres of water and I feel much better even after only 5 days.

Going on holiday on Saturday and going to start exercising when I come back so I'm sure that will bring more weight off.

Overall I wouldn't class myself as being on a diet but more adjusting what I eat to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Thumbs up

Yeh, it's definitely a learning process. Like you, I haven't "dieted" per se, but I have made a few adjustments.

more exercise (building up tbh)..... healthier meals.

the hardest thing BY FAR has been the no alcohol during the week I'm really struggling with this one, as due to my job, I enjoy a small drink when I get home to unwind.
That usually comprises of either a can or 2, or a glass of wine, or G&T.....

None so far. I will have one or two at the weekend as a reward though.

I had a BIG knock yesterday as I b@llsed up the weighing time, and appeared to have put on a fair bit..... today is better as it's all back on an even keel.

Hope I'm on the right pathway

Dan

Yep, making all the difference to me, I like numbers and science, feeling hungry all the time doesnt work for me. My progress is,

I am down half a stone.

My High BP seems generally down to activity or, critically being in a doctors surgery, been checking it at home and it isnt far off, Top number is between 120 - 150, falls back down to 120 odd when relaxed (no kids or wife around) and the bottom number varies between 60 and 80, so if it is a smidge too high it should come down as the weigth comes off and perhaps if I chill out a bit, will monitor it as I lose weight.

I am not diabetic or anywhere near it thankfully.

My Cholesterol was 5.0, 4.2 LDL and 0.8 HDL so the level was ok but could be better, want to lower it a bit further and alter the split between them so its more HDL than LDL, my grandad died of Angina so I need to watch this.

Have cycled 4 out of 5 days, clothes fitting better, long way to go but a start has been made and it really hasnt been all that difficult.

I don't think it's worth weighing yourself everyday. Once a week is more than enough.
I had a good session at the gym yesterday, even with a protein shake and small pizza in the evening I was 600 cals under my allowance.

wow - well done you lot.

Not losing anywhere near your amounts, but I have lost 3lb this week

Played my first competitive 6-aside football tonight. Wasn't breathless, although I fear I've come close to straining my knee tendon (again!! this is what stopped me 2yrs ago)..... however, I scored 3 goals which I'm well chuffed about.

Feeling it in my groin and knees at the moment

Time for sensible eating this weekend and a few beers (literally - not monster!), then some exercise again next week now

Have a good weekend you lot

i suffer white coat hypertension, but have an at home b/p monitor

yes there not 100% abd results can skew as batteries get low,

but if you do say a weekly check, you can see a general pattern over a period of say 6 months

mine wasnt dear from boots and comes with a recording diary, quite goo imo

knwoing your genetic history and possible pre-disposed health situations is massively important imo.

its not a pin point accurate information source, but can definately help anyone steer there lifestyle in a direction that can minimise risk.

scoobydoo, well done on the hatric

3 pounds is excellent, I have done just over 2 weeks of this and have lost half a stone.

I battered it today, not sure where i am getting the energy from as from my log I have only had 1300 or so calories, just walked the dog for a couple of miles and cycled 7 miles to work and 15 on the way back, with a headwind and a couple of good hills. I feel like I should feel hungrier, must be, like an old Peugeot, running on Lard.

Second Friday of no beer easier, I can kid myself with a couple of cans of Sainsbury's Fiery Ginger Beer, funny how I felt like my Friday night was a washout without any alcohol and now I am not actually all that fussed, will have a few when we go to see the Stone Roses at the end of June.
