Why do people remain where there is no water or food?

We are simply encouraging generations of Africans to believe that food comes down from the heavens - courtesy of a Herculese and that westerners will build them wells and give them tractors which they never use!!

If life began in Africa then those who left to better themselves should be rewarded, those who chose to stay die out ..... it's ever so simple.

I can certainly understand your logic.

It's just that it is morally reprehensible.

It's seems you are happy for your fellow human beings to die out.

Just stop building your latest bomb for a moment and look at this as it might tell you what some aid programmes are all about. dl

If you mean that I am happy to help them stop multiplying then you are absolutely right!!!

They cannot seem to limit their production of children to the limit of their ability to feed them, so we should help them out - sterilize the lot of them.

Within 60 years we will have no more suffering, no more starvation ....... it really is that simple!

Africa has the biggest repository of natural resources on the planet, including water

It is how it is used/not used, and abused that is the issue

It not a nature problem it's a human problem

Precisely there's enough production potential ( food wise alone ) for a ten fold increase in population.

Good luck to them ,i just hope they're not forced to give over all their land to the chinkies for this purpose in exchange for their mineral wealth,

Like lewis and his generation made them.

Yep, so stupid it's somehow life affirming

One just has to look at Zimbabwe - once the bread basket of Africa, now a simple basket case.

Not a "nature" problem but a human problem

Production potential in an Industrial economy is made up of much more than land or resources.

All the way through this thread you have referred to the poor of the world as 'them' like they are sub-human and unworthy of compassion.

But for an accident of birth it could be any one of us!

All this could be resolved if we cared enough, and I mean really cared. Unfortunately some people think that even £2 a month is too much.#

Shame on you Lewis, shame!

And the white devil, has been replaced with the Chinese, although mugabe is okay with that as long as the money rolls in to his coffers.

Well put.

I would just add that there is plenty of exciting new technology around which could make a real difference. Solar power being just one example.
