.... yes educating by the Catholic missionaries that provide their limited eductaion facilities, i.e. it's not going to happen.

The Catholic religion has a lot to answer for.

I'm sure the poor and starving of the world will take great comfort from the SN gang, some of whom seem far happier handing out facile advice than any real help.

Where did I say each injection?

Learn to read before you comment.

Do you think all these doctors and volunteers get flown out there for free, and don't need any food and accomadation whilst out there? Where do you think that money comes from?

What I said was it takes atleast 3-400 people paying their 2 quid a month before any child benefits from anything.

Also how much do you think these TV ads cost to make, not to mention the cost of the airtime etc

Charities have been begging and pouring millions and millions of pounds into Africa for years now and the country is still fcucked up and thousands of people are still dieing daily.

These people don't just have kids for fun you know.

The AIDS issue, that is the Catholic Church's fault but having kids isn't.

Don't forget, the UN says the rate of infant mortality is just under 50% so half of all kids will be dead before their first birthday (UK just over 5% rate and we don't actually do that well in the rankings).

There were 31 countries where 10% of kids die before they are five, not to mention that the life expectancy for those that do make it is not much past 40.

They have four kids knowing that two of them will probably die and most likely just because they are poor. We're lucky enough not to be in that position so to make out like they are just popping out kids like council estate scum is ignorant at best.

5t.

So what is the logical conclusion to this strange statement..
a. we should carry on as we are?
b. we should do more and differently?
c. we should do nothing?

Not sure what point it is you are trying to make?

btw the way you describe charities as 'begging' kind of defines your attitude quite well I think

Of course I understood what you were saying. But the real question is are you saying that's it's simply not worth it and we should just leave them to their own devices?

In my opinion, I think they have become to reliant on western charities and intervention. Africans have been living for thousands of years and have not evolved into helping themselves.

I do not know what the answer is to it as nothing seems to be working, the country is to corrupt. I think educating them to stand on their own two feet and to think for themselves would be a start rather than continually pouring money into the country.

When I was a venture scout we did two projects in Kenya. One in the Utoomi hill swhere we raised money and went out there to a millage in the middle of nowhere and we built concrete storage tanks by the side of the huts, with the help of the locals, we showed them how to make the concrete and build the tanks, we showed them hoe to fit wriggly tin roofs on their huts and fit guttering so the water flowed into the tanks. There was a pipe from the tank to the house with a tap on it.

This was a dry baron dustbowl when we got there. we stayed a month and started the project.

7 years later we went back and it was a green flourishing village.

We then started our 2nd project building an ecology centre in Amboseli national park where we bult camping areas, put up a 600metre fence round the site, we ran a pipeline from a fresh water supply and built showers, toilets and washing facilities. We educated the locals on how to do stuff. we also visited a traditional Masai Boma and built toilet facilities etc for tourists and locals etc.

All this was done with the locals helping and to this day both sites are flourishing. the 2nd one providing education to the locals and to school children.

In my opinion this sort of thing is far more valuable to Africa than constantly begging money and westerners doing things for them.

What country?

I fail to see how the average starving child has 'evolved' to be reliant upon aid...that's just about the most bonkers thing I've ever read.

Maybe we in the West have 'evolved' to be too reliant upon the vast majority of the world resources denying the world poor a chance. Maybe we've 'evolved' to be a bunch of selfish tossers want everything our own way. Maybe we've 'evolved' to a point where we simply do give a **** anymore?

The advert for my £2 a month just reminded me of Sunday tea at my grandma's house in the 1940's where she had a cardboard box on the dining room table with a picture of a black baby with flies around its eyes ....... I used to put some of my pocket money in that box.

If I had known, over 70 years later, the same people were still asking for money then I'm not sure I would have given any way back then.

Nature is trying to cull them - we are defying nature by enabling them to live and breed, thus making the problem tomorrow much worse than it is today.

I don't think I am being harsh ... there is a reason that people can't live where there is no rain ... it's nature. What did our ancesters do 100's of years ago? We ventured out to make a better life for ourselves - why has their culture not encouraged the same?

Nature is saying that they should die out .......should we be meddling? If we do, tomorrow the advert will read, just give £4 .. in a decade it will read just give £40 .. at what point do we say enough is enough, save those that are alive, but ensure no more follow on.

The rest of the worlds standard of living has increased vhastly ( partly profiting by attempting to flog these drugs to africans together with very lucrative loans for the west )

Any country in Africa, take your pick!

So come on then smart **** what is your solution then? keep pouring money in and say don't worry we are doing our best?

Well you show massive ignorance of the region if you think that all countries in Africa have the same issues.

There is no simple or quick solution, I don't know anyone who has one.

That said I think we should definitely keep supporting Africa. To say we are 'pouring money in' is laughable, we spend virtually nothing in aid on Africa compared to our wealth.

Where there is an immediate need for help, we have to help. Anything else would be immoral/criminal (unless you are suggesting we allow all these people to move to the rich west and share in our bounty?).

Why not keep them in concentration camps and just gas any newborns?

Actually if you just design a few more bombs to help them wipe each other out then you're half way there. But do leave a few to provide cheap labour for the West and China to carry on ripping the heart out of the place.

And £4 is a bit steep, that's nearly the price of a packet of ****

I am also lost for words at your appalling post.

My 'appalling' (your words) post has quite a number of followers ..... because it is correct, right and just.

Where did I say lock them up and gas all new borns? I didn't!!

What I did indicate is that we should help them by sterilising them ... if they cannot control their population - and if we object to nature controlling their numbers - then we should deliver the wisdom we have in the west and step in to limit the misery of their futures.

We need men to run the world, not nancy liberals .........

Because that would put her a further 2 miles away from the food aid relief camps!
