Hopefully now you have mentioned the police the issue will resolve itself. I had something similar, as soon as I mentioned the police lo and behold it turned out that the buyers wife had signed for the phone, put it in a drawer and forgotten to tell her husband.

PayPal don't have a leg to stand on, they did initially try to get me to pay up.

Funnily enough, they didn't take me to court

An update:

After a month now since the sale, eBay has finally decided in my favour (Hazzar!)

Oddly enough though, they didnt ask for proof of posting, anything like that, they just assumed he was a scammer based on the amount of cases he opens as a buyer.

Well, this whole episode has put me right off ebay like, as I definitely believe if he'd not opened so many cases they would have just sided with him and f*cked me off.

... fair play to Mr Sohail like, he didnt back down until the very end. Tosser.

If he makes a claim against PayPal where will I stand?
Check his feedback etc, does he look like a scammer? If you're a complete **** it's an easy scam to pull however I cant believe that someone could get away with it over and over ...

TX.

Edit - what about the weight of the package? It would be light = cheap to post if empty ...

2nd edit - oops, case closed
