I think Aldi has become way more 'socially accepted' in the 2 years since this thread started.... I know lots & lots of people who shop there now, who 2 yrs ago would not have been seen dead in there....

They have also improved their stock\choice too in the intervening years.
They are a big contender in the supermarket space now.

Dunno about Lidl - don't have one in a 30mile radius.

 

I bought a bike repair stand from Lidl a couple of years ago for just £25, its ideal for servicing my mountain bike, a bargain for the money. never bought any food from there so can't comment on that.

 

Well, it's four letters long and also has an I, a D and an L in it. One can definitely accuse the other of Dyslexic copyright or some such twaddle.

my mrs goes on about aldi, i cant stand the place. Its like they get a shop and just chuck the stuff on some shelves....not in any order or displayed nicely like other supermarkets

the aisles are narrow and always have stuff in the middle / stock / boxes / pallets ! , Ours just had a refit..... the biggest bunch of cowboy contractors i seen! disc cutting metal bar in the car park in full view no protection with kids near by!

you get to the till you have to put your trolley a certain way round or a lithuanian women shouts at you then chucks your shopping in the trolley. You then have to unpack it all to put it in bags on a little narrow bench with everyone else so you drop stuff then get pissed off and just chuck it all in the trolley and deal with it at the car

Plus they dont take credit card?? how can a shop of a national nature not take credit card??

then you get out and some foreigner is trying to work the pound in a trolley thing with a penny holding everyone up

Moan at wife for taking you there and why couldnt she go alone..... Oh but look how much we saved!!!! 4 fu***g quid....... i couldnt care less

Least at morrisons i can walk around , get what i need not get hit with trolleys and see what im buying instead of just crap chucked everywhere

I buy a lot in Aldi. Food as well as other things. Yes, it's disorganised and a humble place where the non-pretentious types shop, so what. I'd rather shop along side them and save my money than shopping along side some stuck up pretentious prats; just to pretend how classy I am. No way.

I bought some pickled onions in Aldi today. The fresh leg of lamb is in the oven for tonight's indulgence. Much cheaper than Tesco, so why not.

Oh, I like Aldi's face and hand creams. Anti-wrinkle face creams for £1.99 and hand cream under .70p. I no more need to buy Lancôme to satisfy my own need to feel rich. Aldi creams are as good. Saving me a fortune.

I don't buy that much in LIDL. Aldi has more variety, I think.

 

We might have to try Aldi.

How cretinously sad does someone have to be to worry about the "image" portrayed by the shop they choose to buy their bog roll/beer/whatever?

 

Oh, I also bought proper WD40 from Aldi today. It was cheaper than usual 3-in-1 from stupid Homebase.

 

Let me list a few more delicious items from Aldi:

Carrington's fine cut marmalade made with naturally bitter fruit- quality!
Freshona healthily processed baby beet root- quality!
Fresh limited edition watercress, spinach and rocket salad- quality!
Strong at grade 5 French blend Metro ground coffee- quality!
Fresh salmon, chicken, lamb, pork and beef- quality!

All much cheaper than other stores, and still mint!

Cucina grilled artichokes antipasti- quality!
Cucina sundried tomatoes antipasti- quality!
Fresh medium cheddar cheese 350 gms. for only £1.75- absolutely mouthwatering!

Now why the Funk would you shop elsewhere, hm?

Actually, tell your missus that my hands are naturally very ugly since birth. They look as if they're someone else's hands on me. I was once told by a Buddhist that I was re-incarnated like Dalai Lama, and that's why my hands look sooooooo very archaic.

The point is that Aldi hand cream keeps your skin soft and moisturised, you nugget. So, don't be a tight wad, and buy her that .70p hand cream.

Anyway, it's called Lacura nourishing hand cream with bee wax and glycerine. It protects and softens your hands.

We shop at Aldi for everything we can and have done so for many years. We only go elsewhere if we need something they don't sell.

I'd add their ready to drink Tizio cold coffees, the 6-in-1 mouthwash (about 1/4 the price of Listerine) and their 600ml soups to the list of great products.

I only started to shop there for last 12 months or so, and I like everything they sell there. From fruit and veges to meat, cat food and creams etc.

Long live Aldi. Lidl is like its poor cousin, in comparison.

Yeah, give her that hand cream as the main one for a joke, and stick an iPhone 6+ and expensive jewellery, perfumes etc. as her side ones. Nothing more fun than teasing your loved ones on Christmas with tricks like that and they give you back as good.

Well, may be they believe that exchanging love as usual is far more worth it on Christmas than proving love via exchanging expensive gifts. Not a bad thing, really.
