If by 'spin' you mean reporting the salient 'facts' then I suppose you could call it spin. Was it also 'spin' to say that those killed at the school were 'Jewish'? A man/woman/other of indeterminate age/race/religious belief/sexual leaning has done something that can't be described to person/s of an age/race/religious belief/sexual leaning that cannot be disclosed. This person initially carried out these actions on others previously over the last few days resulting perhaps in the death/injury of one or more of those on the receiving end of such actions. (Age etc unknown.) This person went about his business with the help of a motorised conveyance.
Others, good guys/gals, again no details will be released, using technology unknown were able to trace the aformentioned to a location where he/she attempted to do something unmentionable to these good guys/gals. It seems that in the ensuing melee something happened to the person connected with the initial actions.

Without facts it becomes meaningless. In my opinion if you don't think someone's religious belief or race should be stated then why even should someone's sex, age or the location be known. Where do you draw the line?
