Imports eh? Frowned upon come resale time, but as it turns out a better equipped car lower arm wise at least
I have now had 8 various marques of Subaru. The last 5 have been imports, I'll never get a UK spec again.

Probably a parallel import.
Check the chassis number it may be a JDM car

Default Safety Recall

Hi there,
just been to Kingham's in South Croydon to get my 03 blob checked out. I must say the service was outstanding! Considering that this was a free of charge issue, I got a voucher for a free breakfast up the road, wash, wax & interior valet and some discount vouchers for a service & my next mot. I don't think anyone can beat that for quality. Many thanks to Keith & his team, an absolute pleasure!

Seems Subaru are doing another recall on these, not sure the full ins and out but can it be that so many are failing now that they've realised their mistake by not replacing them all back in 2012??

I'm not sure if it's vehicles that they know weren't checked then, or they're doing all vehicles again but I know of at least 2 that were checked and failed last year. I bet there's been many many more. I'll be chasing compensation after mine failed, I did chase them up but they wouldn't entertain it saying that it should have been noticed during one of the 5 mot tests since it was checked in March 2012. I had to rectify it myself and went down the route of replacing with alloy arms from the sti.

Not sure if mine was ever checked when the first recalls went out, but then again will my 06 hawk wrx have alloy arms anyway, will save me getting under the car if anyone knows what arms an 06 hawk wrx has fitted

Steel arms probably as the recall covers models from 01-07 and with it being the wrx it probably has the same arms as the earlier wrx models.

Phone up your local Subaru dealer and ask them to check whether it was inspected or not.

Just found this, are Subaru still recalling and fixing the lower control arm. I'm new to the Subaru world, just bought the car in January, it's an 06 RX Wagon. In July the drivers side lower arm sheared due to corrosion. It cost me £450 to fix it, If theres a possibility they would check and fix the other side at their expense, I'd be very happy. Has anyone had this done? And how do I go about it without getting a recall letter?

Ring/or call in to local subaru dealer, ask them if they would check lower arm under recall notice issues. (worth a shot!) .

I,ve had mine done after receiving DVLA recall letter.

welcome and hope you get it sorted.

It seems the recall was done in 2012, on a positive note, it's just past it's MOT so the lower arm must be ok. It does have an airbag recall that needs done.

It is not OK. The Mot is a visual check. The Subaru recal inspection is with a preloaded whacker that belts the lower arm to properly check for weakness in the lower arm.

Get it hit hard with the spring loaded Subaru tool.

I emailed subaru uk to see if my hawk wrx had been back to have the lower arms checked against this recall, their just emailed me back to say this recall doesn't apply to my car because it has alloy arms, I've not had chance to visually check them at myself but i thought only sti models had alloy arms and wrx models had the steele arms? haps someone in the know can shed some light on this for me, mines cars a 2006/06 SL type UK, cheers
