tbh i think the issue subaru have gone away from what they are. Look at how the impreza's changed. It used to be a road version of a rally car, hardcore, noisey all about the drive. Now its just a sporty saloon car thats going for more comfort and less performance.

I think it more to do with costs.
Insurance is high, running costs are high and exchange rates have inflated the cost of a new car substantially.

Let face it - the state of the classics being driven around McD's carparks don't exactly promote the image.

If you hadn't realised Subaru have pulled out of Rallying , their last car being the Hatch, hence the Hatch Sti and R205.

They've moved on to other things now for example the STi NBR Challenge

Because of when they were introduced into the uk market. New tax rates came out that pushed the new 2.5 into the hight bracket. If subaru had kept the 2 litre it would have been in the same bracket as the 2.5.

Be interesting to see what the BRZ is like... obviously very different ways to skin a cat but BHP and weight are similar to a classic and given the rise in popularity of drifting, it could prove to be a real lifeline for them.

this is such a valid point,

but in the uk climate changed is hyped up to incrediable levels, again by the media to sell fcking newspapers!!!
and the goverment love it, as it means they can increase and justify taxes and there increase!
im all for caring about your enviroment and doing what you can to maintain and support it, recycling, reducing waste is great, and should always be done, but what i cant stand is climate changed being used as an excuse for the goverment to rape you of more of your moeny when on a global scale, the uk can do absolutley zero to impact on global climate changing, because of now booming industrial countries.

RE the Cossie Hatch: they didnt actually all sell, all initially had deposits but many pulled out before parting with the money and dealers took on the cars , its all media hype, same thing happened with the RB320's, all were registered and sold but 6 months down the line, when my hawk sti was written off I wanted a RB320 as a replacement but the insurance would only buy an unregiustered car car I ordered another STI , a week later the dealer tells me of a RB320 that surfaces unregistered

As Don said, Subaru Japan build the cars for the UK market, regulations etc as they do for each country to comply with that countries regulations.

Owners from every continent bitch about the other getting better models , Ltd Ed's etc

We will never get the whole package we want but I think Litchfield really make the bests of JDM to UK

IMO the hatch, with the exception of the engine failures has been the best scoob I've owned, the goodies it comes with are all things that have been added after considering customers points, surveys etc.

I've added to their problem, I bought a WR1 in 2004 and as a project that's been tweaked over the last seven years why would I want to sell it for probably less than £10-12K to 'upgrade' to a newer model?

- I would take a drop in power, 470bhp to circa 300bhp.
- ditch the AP brakes fitted front and rear, bring on the fade
- loose the awesome turbo whistle and induction noise
- suffer from heat soak reverting back to TMIC
- be limited to what, 350bhp on the 2.5l without a rebuild? (yes my stock 2l STI motor runs 470bhp)

Difficult for Subaru to bring out a car that does the above, meets emissions and has minimum one year warranty. And what's the above going to cost...more than £50K
