Did you check the oil level on a flat surface?

Lol at this thread, your a muppet and you need to learn to chill a bit before you post a thread.

I think your suffering from post rebuild nerves and the slightist thing seems to get you up in arms

If you have any future concerns talk to david he is always more than happy to help and is one of the most respected builders out there and merlin is a wizard with engines so stop fretting and most of all STOP FIDDELING with your engine as if you **** it up it will not be covered by david.

well in terms of oil everything fine . but i do still have an issue with boost !! in 3rd 4th and 5th it seems to back off then pull again ? and also makes a kind of surging noise ? im thinking maybe it has something to do with why my boost guage packed up ?? like there is a split pipe and im loosing boost through it or something ? somethings up

: to be fair it was doing it when i got it back from david and before i removed the pill . i am not pointing the finger at him at all though i think it could be the turbo as its a vf34 and have read they should ideally be ported to avoid boost creep ? but all went well on the dyno ? so surely it would of showed ? and dychy your bang on mate i am a complete bag of nerves now after what cars have put me through maybe i need a slap ! even when i first start it and there is slight smoke i get nervous i have realised that my impreza doesnt like being driven like a micra ? it seems to love being driven hard ? and by that i mean as its a very loud car i tend to change gears at low revs maybe i should get used to giving it more ?

Needed road dyno'ing before completion IMHO. You won't hit full boost on the rollers from experience with my VF43 Hawkeye. Never overboosted on rollers but on the road it would.

Without pointing the dredded 'accusing finger' Dave, you've fiddled with the restrictor pill and if I remember another post of yours given it a 'blast' whilst it was running in? That's not good practise for running an engine in and if it goes boom... Well this could be an interesting read

Hopefully you haven't fcuked things up for yourself!

surely if it was gonna go then it would of when they ragged it on the rolling road ? all was good , great results , so thats that . thing is if you was with me on the day when i put my foot down , then you would know its not that because its been greatly exagerated !! if all it takes to ruin a new built engine is what i done that day ? then the pistons must be made of chocolate ? and 90% of cars would be f**ked .

Chances are it's a simply issue with the pipework.

BUT for the love of god, get it back to David to Diagnose poperly! AND KEEP IT OFF THE BOOST UNTIL THEN!!

VF35s are more prone to creep/surge problems if you don't port the wastegate, not so common with VF34s.

Dave,Dave,Dave.......WTF are you doing now? lol

Have you been in contact with API?

Have you fitted Recirc DV?

Have you binned/set fire to the Baileys DV12 DV?

Have you fitted the Recirc correctly and not broken the gasket or damaged the thread on the TMIC?

LOL

Little advise mate.Dont go fiddling with things you don't know about.
If you must fiddle with something then read lots about the thing you want to change before touching anything.

I look forward to the next thread.

Danny.

Was your car mapped with a VTA dump valve but you have since fitted a re-circ?

Ok i must have misunderstood mate. I thought you put the re-circ back on after getting your car back from the builders. I was reading Bob Rawles project thread the other night and he was talking about oil in the inter-cooler after the re-build. I think oil can find its way into the boost solinoid as well. I doubt it would be enough to show up on your dip stick but any oil in these parts could effect your boost. Just a thought.

Dave, no disrespect mate but please just drop any plans you have for the weekend and book it in with david for saturday morning and let him take a look at it, even if it costs you £200 in fuel parts and labour, it's got to be better than another £2k or so that it will cost if you break something, and i'm sure by now merlin and david have seen the threads you have been posting, and must be thinking what a prat, and are more than well within their rights to tell you to sling your hook should you one day god forbid turn up with a problem expecting them to fix it foc.

Just call david and get it sorted before the dreaded knock comes a calling.

You seem like a good lad and having watched what you have been through, and been through it myself TWICE i would hate to see you go through it all over again.

So stop ******* with it and get it booked in, and as said before keep it off boost until you get it looked at.

phoned api today the problem im experiencing is turbo surge . its common for vf34's and they may of been a bit optamistic when mapping it and pushed the turbo to produce a bit to much boost mid-range ? im told as long as i learn to drive it and not push it to much when i hear the "surge" it should cause no issues ? if i want it remapped to tone down the boost a bit then that is an option , but to be honest im gonna give it a while and see how it goes ?
